Now I Take Responsibility for ME

by Glenda, Canada

My name is Glenda. I was introduced to Universal Medicine several years ago by a dear friend. My life has changed dramatically since Universal Medicine.

I remember as a child feeling pretty, expressive and full of life. Somewhere at a young age I gave up on being that little girl and started to feel the hurts of not measuring up.

So I went inward and became quiet and shy: this made it difficult to truly connect with others.

Several years ago I was introduced to the presentations of Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine: I felt the love and acceptance in Serge’s words.

I now take responsibility for me. I make self-loving choices for me. I look at my role in situations and don’t blame others. I let go of emotions and patterns that are not self-loving. I know feeling great starts from within. I have learnt that life reflects how we feel on the inside.

For me, the best investment I can make in life is to take loving care of myself: I eat well, get lots of rest, respect myself, and have a balance in my work life.

Life is great and it keeps getting better. I am truly grateful and in appreciation to Serge Benhayon, the Universal Medicine team and the student body.

  1. Glenda, I love the simplicity of this blog and sharing. You resonated with Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine’s ‘love and acceptance’. And from this you could feel the difference in your life by making those changes. When we make it about us and take this responsibility, then life becomes much more different.

I totally agree how we feel in the inside has an impact on everyone and everything, so it just goes to show that searching for it on the outside is not the key. If we all looked within then life will be much different. I’m learning more and more about this, the answer is never outside and if we feel it is, it is only temporarily. Look with in and its all there and has been under a blanket of stuff that doesn’t belong to us…

  2. Knowing that moment or age you left yourself and stopped expressing your natural essence is so pivotal – most people don’t realise they are not who they truly are because we are always expressing something and identifying ourselves in some way. The next part to me is to question ‘why and what contributed to the separation?’, as this opens up the topic to include the bigger picture of beliefs, ideals, what goes on in family, and importantly the current foundation of how education is delivered. How is it as a society we have formed a way of life that fosters our separation from our essence, and why are we allowing this generation after generation? And how does it affect our health and well-being, and the well-being of society to not live who we truly are? Could there be anything more important that reinstating the essence as central to life?

    1. I agree Melinda, why are things being passed on by generations after generations. In that as young people, we switch off what is innately in us and spend the rest of our years unsettled and, search every corner of the world hoping that one day we have that eternal settlement…We don’t have to travel far as it’s within us all, we just need to know how to bring it out.

  3. To love ourselves is one of the greatest gifts we can receive and also one of the greatest reflections we can offer to the rest of the world and all around us.

  4. Glenda, thank you for your gorgeous sharing and your appreciation of the things around you that have supported you to come back to living the beauty of yourself that you first felt as a young girl.

  5. “Somewhere at a young age I gave up on being that little girl and started to feel the hurts of not measuring up.” – this is such a common theme that happens to so many of us – we feel like we are not measuring up to outside standards instead of knowing that we are amazing on the inside and allowing ourselves to live this.

  6. Thank you Richard for your comment, and what a wonderful line “Relationships are no longer about the desire for love but the joy of expressing love, and this is a remarkable thing.” Not only can we cease the searching outside of ourselves for love and giving our power away to others to ‘love’ us, we can now express love throughout our everyday and live in the joy of this. What a blessing for everyone, including ourselves.

  7. Glenda everything you have shared here highlights how simple and practical the work of Universal Medicine is, and how self empowering it is to live in a self loving way. Every blog I read like this inspires me to appreciate the self love and self care I already live, and examine how to bring more love and care into my life. What’s beautiful about this way of living is it is like a feeling of being held supported, and for me one of the benefits has meant being more steady in myself, not having mood changes, etc, which has been wonderful for my relationships.

  8. Gorgeous to read of the changes that have happened in your life as a result of you being responsible and making self-loving choices for yourself.

  9. “The best investment I can make in life is to take loving care of myself” – and that, nobody else can do for us.

  10. This is great what you have shared Glenda, and adding to what you have so Lovingly sharing, with the analogy of life is like a recipe, so we can make it all sweet and sugar coated, or keep it plain and simple so we are filled with what nourishes our body. One detracts us from our essence while the other if we do not over indulge deepens our relationship with our Loving essences.

  11. So True Richard, searching for Love becomes a futile exercise! When we understand how far away from Love we are we can start the return journey and undo all the barriers that are laced with our ideals, beliefs and conjured mechanisms that have detached us from our essence.

    1. Our movement outwards can only be of quality if we come from the inside first and bring that with us to the outside…How beautiful this is… and so simple and yet we can be very good at stuffing this up (and I speak from my experience here) 😉

  12. Taking responsibility for our own life changes everything, it shows that we can change the way we are living so that more loving choices can be made.

  13. ‘For me, the best investment I can make in life is to take loving care of myself: I eat well, get lots of rest, respect myself, and have a balance in my work life.’ Through making simple changes to our lives and making more loving choices our lives become fuller and more purposeful.

  14. There is so much designed to push us back or side ways and make us believe that we need to be better or that we don’t measure up and that we are a disappointment. This we know now is the complete opposite to our essence that is forever within untainted.

  15. The world around us doesn’t always confirm and/or foster who we truly are. We have a choice to be a victim of that, or start treating ourselves with love so much so that it becomes unshakably known and felt within us that we are that love and we won’t have to wait for the world/others to state the obvious.

  16. “Life is great and it keeps getting better.” A beautiful appreciation of the choices you are making with the inspiration of Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine.

  17. It is amazing just how much more enriching life is when we embrace taking responsibility for our choices. For in embracing responsibility we embrace living in connection to truth, and as such we bring more of the love we are in essence to life.

    1. Responsibility is sold as such a burden, and yet it is the very thing that enriches us in life like nothing else does.

  18. When we take loving care of ourself we naturally listen to our body and know what we can eat and what we cannot. We know when to rest and how to move. We naturally honour our cycles and rhythms.

  19. It is a great confirmation how much we have shifted when we no longer blame others for any situation that occurs in our life, for in this space we get the reflection and the clarity of the lesson that is there for ourselves, which truly supports us to move on.

  20. I agree the best investments we can make is to take loving care of ourselves and reflect this for the world to feel.

  21. How wonderful that you now have this understanding, ‘I now take responsibility for me. I make self-loving choices for me. I look at my role in situations and don’t blame others. I let go of emotions and patterns that are not self-loving. I know feeling great starts from within.’ Absolutely.

  22. With taking responsibility for oneself it is then natural to be understanding and observant of other peoples choices without holding reactions or judgments.

  23. “For me, the best investment I can make in life is to take loving care of myself: I eat well, get lots of rest, respect myself, and have a balance in my work life.” What I love about the esoteric is how simple life becomes. If things are construed and stuck the best thing to do is be loving with yourself. I build my worth and to have ‘worthy’ thoughts..

  24. This is a beautiful sharing Glenda on how taking responsibility supported you to let go of old hurts and allowed you to make more loving choices, it is amazing how much life changes when we take these simple steps and reflect to the world what’s possible when we choose love.

  25. These changes that are made through the inspiration of Serge Benhayon are pretty incredible really. What we see is consistent changes across the board, no just hand full of people. The wisdom presented is easily applied, very practical and very alive. It makes a difference to every part of our life, so much so that we realise our life is not in parts, its all one.

  26. We are taught to live life from looking outside to others, compare ourselves, meet the demands and basically live life from the outside in – defining and identifying ourselves from what we do or stand for in the world.
To live life from connecting to ourselves first and then proceed with this inner knowing of who we are to what needs to be addressed on the outside makes such a difference.

  27. It is extraordinary the affect that the wisdom presented by Serge can have through inspiring such changes in peoples lives… what is equally incredible is how those changes transform the way people not only view and treat themselves but other people and the world around them….. A stunning domino effect reawakening people to another way of living that is as beautiful to live as it is inspiring… especially when compared to what we settled for before we knew what was available to us.

  28. Taking responsibility for our own lives involves the process of letting go of all blame aimed at others for how our life has unfolded and instead starting to view all our experiences as our own unique life lessons to learn and grow from.

  29. Glenda you wrote: “I have learnt that life reflects how we feel on the inside.” That is so inspiring as you have taken your responsibility and do not blame others.

  30. The world would be a totally different place to live if every single person took such simple responsibilities. Never looking to the outside to gain anything or blame another for how they feel and constantly going within and taking responsibility for their life. There would be no need for greed, war, inequality and layers of separation, and everyone would live equal and support a greater purpose. It is one day possible.

  31. Serge Benhayon is the only presenter on health and wellness that lives by the fact that the best investment we can make in life is to go deeper within ourselves, constantly surrendering, and then when ready, bring this back out to live and share.

  32. “feeling great starts from within.” Serge Benhayon reflects back to each of us all the love that we naturally are as we rediscover the joyful playfulness we knew as a young child and we in turn have the responsibility to reflect the love back to others.

  33. A wonderful testament to the benefits of living in accordance with the wisdom provided by Universal Medicine. Common sense, truth, responsibility and choice around our relationship with self, the body and life.

  34. “I now take responsibility for me. I make self-loving choices for me. I look at my role in situations and don’t blame others. I let go of emotions and patterns that are not self-loving. I know feeling great starts from within. I have learnt that life reflects how we feel on the inside.” Universal Medicine is the best investment I have ever made for myself, learning to truly love and care for myself which then radiates out to everyone around me.

  35. ‘For me, the best investment I can make in life is to take loving care of myself’ – Well said and very true Glenda.

  36. The beautiful thing about self-responsibility is that it never ends to deepen I was a bit scared in the beginning about making this commitment. But during the process I realized that the marker for self-responsibility is actually how much true fun I have during my day!

  37. Beautiful to read how you are taking responsibility for yourself through self loving choices, when we do we feel a greater sense of freedom, as we did when we were young children, and our sense of knowing returns.

    1. Beautifully said Sally – there is a blog in this itself! We have ‘bought it’ that responsibility is a heavy, burdensome thing in life, when to take true responsibility as shared here in Glenda’s poignant blog, is actually something that is deeply liberating.
The deeper the responsibility I take for my life, and my impact upon all others, the way I love myself, love and hold all others… the deeper my connection with God and who I truly am – this is ‘richness’ beyond measure, and deeply freeing.
For far more ‘burdensome’ it is, to carry the heavy tension of holding back our love and its expression in life. I say ‘yes’ to the joy of true responsibility any day.

  38. “For me, the best investment I can make in life is to take loving care of myself:” This investment pays continual dividends not only to the primary investor but to all other shareholders.

  39. It’s astonishing to observe how quickly life can change depending on the choices that we take. And very humbling that this is possible in both directions – better or worse. And even most humbling when I choose either of these possibilities, but choose to become more truthful!

  40. “The best investment I can make in life is to take loving care of myself” – I totally agree with you, Glenda. And I really enjoy discovering deeper layers of this process every day.

  41. Lovely. Straight forward and to the point. And yes, truly taking care of ourselves is a worthwhile investment.

  42. So simple and true, Glenda. Life is about taking responsibility for ourselves and all our choices. This then has a profound effect on us and everyone around us.

  43. Love how you pointed out that life reflects how we feel on the inside. And it is so true.. When I’m feeling great I tend to notice that the world is great more…I love looking at the sky and nature and interactions with people are easy. When I’m not feeling so great, I don’t even notice the sky or nature and relationships are disharmonious.

  44. Wow Glenda I dont hear many people say ‘Life is great and it keeps getting better.’ Good on you, and all from taking loving care of yourself. You are a great advert for self responsibility.

  45. So true Glenda that ‘the best investment I can make in life is to take loving care of myself’ and reflect this to all around you. Thank you for shining your light.

  46. Dear Glenda this is beautifully expressed I can totally relate to that. With love and appreciation Nadine

  47. Thank you Glenda, it’s amazing when I also look back to life prior to Universal Medicine. I had a very low sense of self worth and this was reflected in my lack of self care. My worth has grown exponentially with the input of Serge Benhayon and Esoteric Women’s Health, and my self care, health and wellbeing has improved dramatically. Thanks for sharing your story.

  48. Such a beautiful blog, simple and straight to the point. What Serge presents and Universal Medicine is such an amazing way of life, It has changed many lives, myself included.

  49. There is so much value in this statement:
‘For me, the best investment I can make in life is to take loving care of myself: I eat well, get lots of rest, respect myself, and have a balance in my work life.’
It’s very simple and something most people would agree with, but how many of us steadily live that in our lives and not just talk about it as something we know we should do?
As more and more people begingto truly care in this way for themselves, I feel sure the value of it will surpass what we can now imagine…

    1. Great question Laura ‘how many of us steadily live that in our lives and not just talk about it as something we know we should do?’ So the inspiration from seeing people truly living this is profound and a reflection that is much needed with increasing levels of stress and anxiety around the world.

  50. I totally agree Glenda, the best investment we can all make in our lives is to lovingly take care first of ourselves, then all others.

  51. Glenda, the directness and beautiful simplicity of your message is fantastic. I can feel how in the past I have complicated what it means to live a loving life, but you have described it in a way that is so accessible and attainable for anyone.

  52. I love what you have described as your best investment… that is so awesome and so inspiring and everyone has the potential to do that for themselves.

  53. Thank you Glenda for a beautifully simple post, you have said it all, it comes down to taking responsibility for our choices and making them self loving and caring.

  54. Only a true love felt clearly as such is able to even make us consider the possibility that we had lived like a snail without knowing we did so and leave it for good. We learn to be guarded and only true love disarms.

  55. Lovely article Glenda. It all starts with taking responsibility for our choices. “I have learnt that life reflects how we feel on the inside.” Beautiful.

  56. Beautiful truth expressed here Glenda – it is that simple – everything comes from expressing the truth that lies within.

  57. Thank you Glenda for sharing how your life has changed. It is beautiful how you have taken responsibility for you and are now making loving choices that support your connection to you and all that you are – inspiring.

  58. Serge’s words are full of love and acceptance, and without judgment inspires a life of self-responsibility and self-loving choices. Taking loving care of yourself is absolutely the best investment and the returns are priceless.

    1. Having discovered so much that is ‘priceless’ in the richness I have found within – deeply inspired by the work of Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine – it’s hard to imagine the priorities in life I once had… Such as the seeking of ‘material’ riches over my relationship with who I am, with God, and all others. Not to negate the place and necessity of a strong temporal foundation in life, but today I know and appreciate more than ever, what will go with me when I pass beyond this lifetime. If it were a choice, today I would choose the inner riches over the outer any day. In retrospect, this is all I ever truly ‘sought’ in life, anyways… (funny that)

  59. Glenda your deceptively simple statement rings like a bell on a crisp clear morning. I love your paragraph ‘I now take responsibility for me. I make self-loving choices for me. I look at my role in situations and don’t blame others. I let go of emotions and patterns that are not self-loving. I know feeling great starts from within. I have learnt that life reflects how we feel on the inside.’ It’s just what I need to hear today.

  60. A simple and brilliant reminder that rather than blaming the world for this and that, if we just focus on lovingly supporting ourselves the rest takes care of itself. ”I have learnt that life reflects how we feel on the inside.” Thank you.

    1. It is a simple line, but there is a very deep understanding here of how life mirrors what is going on inside of us – a deep esoteric connection as we manifest a world around us based on our choices.

      1. Beautifully said Simon, and Glenda. This is no small thing that Glenda has brought to us here, is it… For we have, as a whole, so largely given up on making any ‘difference’ in this world, overwhelmed by its corruption, conflict, disharmony… Yet it all begins with the simple steps of coming back to oneself, and taking responsibility for our choices and self-care, that a truly loving way can be established – one that indeed ‘ripples out’ from us in more powerful ways than we can imagine…

  61. Glenda thank you. I love your comment about investment, “the best investment I can make in life is to take loving care of myself: I eat well, get lots of rest, respect myself, and have a balance in my work life.”

  62. Thank you Glenda.
All I can say is Wow.” I take responsibility for Me” A major step in self-love
When we all do this what an awesome world we will all live in.
    Elizabeth

  63. Lovely Glenda, what a fresh and loving approach you now have to situations, yourself and life – definitely agreed with you re the part about taking loving care of self being the very best investment. Thank you for the simplicity in this article.

  64. What a beautiful post Glenda. The way you have spoken about “responsibility for self” so lovingly and simply helps me to step back and see just how profound a change it is when anyone takes such steps. These steps are truly to be celebrated – every single one!
The earth is indeed graced by your gentle footprint, thank you.

      1. That is very beautiful Greg, thank-you. As we all re-connect to the beauty within us, as Glenda has done, we indeed grace the earth with the power of our love. Taking true responsibility for ourselves impacts upon all through every step we take.

  65. Thank you Glenda – in a beautiful simple summary you have let us feel how living your love really works – it has a gentle ‘ come on everybody stop – this can be you too ‘…

  66. Glenda, you used simplicity to express something so profound and you showed so beautifully that less is more! Absolutely love it!

  67. I so agree with you, Glenda, ‘that the best investment I can make in life is to take loving care of myself’. I too enjoy the difference I’ve made in my life since being introduced to the presentations of Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine.

  68. Thank you for sharing the way your life is changing by taking responsibility – not blaming others is such an awesome choice to make – it makes space for the love to be, and then it will be naturally expressed. It is great to hear from someone in Canada!

  69. Thanks Glenda it is that simple, By taking care of ourselves, we naturally find life easier and less stressful.
I like you gave up on being that fun loving child and felt the hurts of not measuring up and am only really now recognising the extent to which I have given up and therefore the level of hurts I have accumulated. Unravelling them has allowed me to feel the true me again but with a stronger foundation.

    1. Thank you Glenda and Alison, I agree, life is definitely ‘better’ since I started to attend Universal Medicine courses. Life has become one of building a ‘stronger foundation’ in such a way that continues to expand my being or my consciousness, and this without any magic bullet but with the understanding that the normal things in life are all still there. They are simply not who we are, so there is no attachment or judgment of them being us. I now live in such a way as not to be effected by the stress and emotional turmoil of life. 1. My experience has been similar if not in broader terms, very much the same as yours Greg. Since coming to the work of Universal Medicine, I’ve built a steady foundation for the ‘living of life’ that I previously had not even considered possible. The level of taking care of myself, dealing with core hurts I’d still onto from childhood and other points in my life, and connecting with the deep wisdom of the Ageless Wisdom teachings that Serge Benhayon presents, has been nothing short of transformational, allowing a consistent quality of living, and a depth of joy, purpose and love for myself and others, that only continues to deepen and expand.
I did not know such richness to be possible in life – or dared only look at it as a wished for possibility in days gone by… The thing is, it IS possible and very real to live in such fullness.
Wow, hats off to Serge Benhayon for leading by such stunning example, in a way that holds all in the most powerful and true equalness I’ve ever known.
