by Vibeke Lykkegard, age 63, Copenhagen, Denmark (English 2nd language)
In 2009 I returned from England to my native country against all plans. I felt like I was knocked out facing a broken relationship, no permanent place to live, no job and being in a tight economy. Add to that, that at 60 years old it was a race down to the wire to find a job giving me the necessary income.
While I was living in England I came to know about Universal Medicine and Serge Benhayon from one of my friends. I started listening to Serge’s audio lectures and I participated in a few of his courses. What he said made sense to me.
If I had not learned from Serge Benhayon about looking after myself in very simple ways such as accepting and working with what I have instead of wishing I had something different, being present in what I am doing and listening to my body, my life would have been an on-going struggle given the difficult circumstances I had placed myself in.
With the support of regular phone sessions taking place with my UK Esoteric Practitioner, Bina Pattel, within the first three months in Denmark I managed first to find a weekend job in an area where I was not educated professionally. However, I loved to do what I was asked to do. It was a valuable start.
Second, I managed to find a 1st class job which matched my competencies and where I would love to extend myself. The only disadvantage was that it was 3 days out of 5 and so it was not covering my most necessary expenses.
I also found an impermanent flat – small, but I could afford it.
Today my 3/5 job has extended to be 4/5, and I have moved to a much better and permanent flat.
Even though my hours have extended I have kept my weekend job as it is very supportive to have this extra income to give me the freedom to be able to have regular phone sessions, and to participate in some of Universal Medicine’s courses in England any time I feel to attend. The support I get from both sessions and workshops helps me to continue working with any issues I feel are holding me back from living a life of joy and harmony.
To be in a position where I am earning an income that allows me to attend courses and phone sessions is very joyful because of the benefits that I can feel on a day to day basis which are more energy, vitality and confidence.
With the support from Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine I am now in a situation where I can say I am appreciating my life every single day.
Vibeke I loved the simplicity of your sharing. This statement was a great reminder for me too, “accepting and working with what I have instead of wishing I had something different”, is something I often wished for as it was never enough.
Over the years and since meeting Serge Benhayon too, I have taken responsibility that I have paved the way to what exists in my life. And it’s only when that responsibility became at the forefront, did my life change, not always for the better, but I was a being more accountable then pointing the finger at others.
We need more Serge Benhayon’s to support us and humanity, as we have more to go with life that brings us a whole new perspective we have closed our eyes to. Life is so much different when we receive it instead of perceiving it to be in a certain way. No wonder there is so much unrest around the world…
Love foundations give solidness to our life
Building solid foundations are so important – for these very foundations then support us in life and allow us to be there for others.
Foundations are the building blocks to order, an order that is so divine we have no choice but to follow or retaliate. These foundations lead to standards and these standards lead to responsibility and accountability. What would the world look like if we all had these foundations? Different? I think and know so…
It is not so much the ‘what’ that happens in life that matters but more so the ‘how we handle it and embrace it’ that really changes the way we live.
Vibeke I also felt to say thank you again for your sharing for with what you have experienced and been able to turn around in a beautiful way has actually happened, is also an inspiration for any person of any age to know that they too can take responsibility in full and appreciate life and what it has on offer.
Vibeke, how gorgeous to feel your sharing here in terms of admitting how challenging it was but also how you were able to support yourself and hence feel empowered by the situation rather than a victim of circumstances.
Vibeke I always love reading this, a story of a woman blossoming with support who then is able to support herself in many loving ways. It’s a win for you and a win for society because of all you can give back. And there is such a joy in life to be able to appreciate ourselves, such a gift to have a loving relationship with ourselves, and to know and cherish who we are.
It is very inspiring to read how at the age of sixty you turned your life around from being almost destitute, to now appreciating the abundance you have created in your life.
Self care has changed my life in so many ways, it’s also supported me to challenge beliefs I have about how life is, for example that work is challenging, a burden, or something I don’t want to do, when it was actually how I was at work that felt awful not the work itself. Introducing self care can transform any part of life.
It is so clear from what you have shared Vibeke, that life can flow with a deep-appreciative-ness for those things that become a normal way of living and the support we feel from ourself, also the Universal Medicine practitioners when required.
So true the more we connect to our innermost the more this is reflected in our daily life for ourselves and others to see and appreciate.
Beautiful to feel the appreciation you have for the life you have built with the support of Universal Medicine teachings and your commitment to working with what you have.
Universal Medicine therapies, practitioners and fellow students have supported so many of us to turn our lives around.
I have often struggled with appreciating what I have got, but I also know that when I am present, when I give myself space and can feel my body in movement, it’s like every cell of my body bursts with joy for just being, there’s nothing but to appreciate, and I start to feel that what I am appreciating does not actually belong to me the person. Sure, I look at the place I live, or the circumstances I am in and appreciate that, but there’s something so grand yet so intimate in that unspoken, un-worded space.
Independently of where we come from and where we are at, we can all easily align to what is true. That is something that no one can take away from us.
This is beautiful and shows that we can seek true help to stand on our own two feet again and build ourselves a steady foundation from where we can then expand and grow.
Yes, it is empowering to seek help, to support us to return to living and working again.
I agree Elizabeth, and Vibeke it would be great to get an update on how life is for you in another blog/s.
Thank you Vibeke, each time I read your story I fee the same sense of joy as you share how life unfolded for you with the support of Universal Medicine so that each day had more steadiness, harmony, self love and joy. Although our stories are different on the surface the outcome from living with connection to Soul is the same – love, harmony and joy.
The wish to have something different to live and work with consumes our lives in vain. It is the absolutely perfect alibi not to be all that you are, to connect to your beauty and bring it to the world.
We can keep rearranging the outer life to try to fill us, or live full of ourselves by reconnecting to soul. It totally changes our relationship to life from one of needing life to deliver something to us, or being in life to serve the all from our Soul.
I so agree Melinda- rearranging the outer doesn’t support the growth and evolution of our inner life. When we make new choices that affect our inner world our outer world constellates differently too.
What I can appreciate is that when we are in the process of turning our life around support from others is great but our own commitment to caring for ourselves and taking responsibility for our own life is the most vital ingredient we can bring to this.
Beautifully said Suse, for no one else can actually take the reigns and change our life for ourselves other than ourselves. And likewise no one can do it completely alone for we all need support in one way or another.
Thank you Vibeke, I also appreciate how I can now use my money in a way that brings true riches to my life including more love, joy, harmony, truth and stillness. These are the qualities that are unfolding from within me with the support of Universal Medicine, and the money I spend with them is not just great for me it’s great for all.
When we expect and crave love from others we are in constant judgement and tension that it won’t last but when we feel within ourselves the Love that we naturally are we can choose to appreciate the equal love in another.
Thank you for sharing Vibeke, the support that Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine offer is not only outstanding, it is also hugely valuable too.
It is debilitating when we start to compare ourselves with the lives of others, for we instantly abandon the power we hold to live in connection to who we are. When we embrace our worth we can begin to appreciate just how much love and power the is for us to live, just by being ourselves.
Thank you Carola for your comment, and especially how we “abandon our power we hold to live in connection to who we are.” It’s so simple isn’t it, just being ourselves. Who we ‘think’ ourselves to be, and who we truly are in essence is the difference here.
Beautiful to read how appreciation came into your life as I have experienced it to be such a crucial ingredient to feeling vital and joyful. There is always something to appreciate, small or big it doesn’t matter.
Beautiful Vibeke, . . . “If I had not learned from Serge Benhayon about looking after myself in very simple ways such as accepting and working with what I have instead of wishing I had something different, being present in what I am doing and listening to my body, my life would have been an on-going struggle given the difficult circumstances I had placed myself in”. . . . this is so worth sharing as looking after ourselves and working with what we have changes everything!
What you have shared here Vibeke, is very inspiring.
It sounds like you have landed on your feet, even though at first things didn’t look great. When we are open, there is so much support available from others. This is something I am also learning.
I love the support that comes from above when you truly are open to supporting yourself.
It is very easy for us to see the lack in our life and wish how things would be different. You share here how fulfilling and joy-full life can be when we first fill ourselves with love.
Such a beautiful and honest sharing Vibeke of the loving choices you made that supported you to turn your life around. I always love reading blogs such as these because it reminds me of the everyday miracles that hundreds of students are experiencing everyday.
The foundations we hold can be deeply tested through such a time of change as you’ve shared so openly here Vibeke. Thank-you for your openness in this…
To stay steady within oneself, “accepting and working with what I have instead of wishing I had something different, being present in what I am doing and listening to my body…” is the hallmark of a very deep and self-honouring foundation indeed, one that can hold us when things are not so easy.
It is inspiring to hear of a woman’s story of change at such a point in her life – I would love to hear more of what has unfolded for you since this time Vibeke.
Appreciation is so vital isn’t it. We can have a fabulous life but without appreciation what do we have? And to me, appreciation goes further into expanding all that we are and all that we have. It is a healing in itself.
It is absolutely worth celebrating the fact you can earn an income that allows you to receive the healings and wisdom you have through the Universal Medicine courses and sessions and be able to work on anything that holds you back from embracing you in full. This is a testament to you honouring you and committing to life in full by returning to where you knew you were meant to be.
It is magic to appreciate life everyday Vibeke. Even though you were in a difficult situation your sharing of this experience was one of taking responsibility and deep appreciation. Well done Vibeke, for landing on your feet firmly on the ground and accepting the love and support available to you.
It is amazing how our sense of ‘what is true’ is actually ever-present and never truly leaves us. At any moment that we are open and willing it is there, as it is only us that chooses to dis-connect from the truth we know and feel. The more we return to honoring and being guided by our truth within, the more we are able to truly live who we are, in honor of and from the love that we all equally are in essence.
I love the simplicity of focusing on what you needed Vibeke and what would support you the most. This is something that has been an enormous support for me also, when things get tense or tough, I just bring it back to simplicity and what I feel.
Thank you Vibeke for this very honest report of your situation, I can feel the ease and acceptance the support you asked for and allow yourself to have is providing you.
“To be in a position where I am earning an income that allows me to attend courses and phone sessions is very joyful because of the benefits that I can feel on a day to day basis” – this brings up for me the amount of energy and money spent on things that are actually full of harm, whereas it’s so beautiful to see the joy of spending that money in a way that supports a more nurturing and loving lifestyle.
“With the support from Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine I am now in a situation where I can say I am appreciating my life every single day.” Me too Vibeke and countless other students as well. We are beginning to see and experience the truly amazing blessing that life presents to us abundantly
Thank you Vibeke for a lovely sharing how your life has changed by your acceptance of “The support I get from both sessions and workshops helps me to continue working with any issues I feel are holding me back from living a life of joy and harmony.”
Vibeke this is very inspirational: “If I had not learned from Serge Benhayon about looking after myself in very simple ways such as accepting and working with what I have instead of wishing I had something different . . . ” I asked myself how would the world look like if more people would live like this???
An awesome blog to read – written from a livingness of those choices
Vibeke,
I love the power I feel in your writting, a power that comes from owning the circumstances we find ourselves in, and there fore know it is up to us to change them.
” The support I get from both sessions and workshops helps me to continue working with any issues I feel are holding me back from living a life of joy and harmony.” Regular sessions are so supportive to enable us to deal with our hurts and move on in life. Little by little – until – as you found- you now appreciate your life every day. Appreciation is so important.
This is a great example of how we can step by step change our lives, that when we start taking deeper care of ourselves the next step is laid before us.
Thank you Esther, the care we take of ourselves is part of committing to life and aligning to our soul, it makes sense that from there things may unfold around us to keep supporting the process of evolution.
Thank you Vibeke for sharing that moving to a different part of the world is no barrier to being a student of The Way of The Livingness. I felt on reading this that the next step is for you to appreciate yourself for all the choices you have made to support yourself and that in doing that you are taking your light to shine for others.
It’s astonishing how much we struggle when we don’t take super good care of ourselves and our bodies and totally commit to life and everything it offers – thank God for Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine for showing us that there is a different way where struggle is not necessary!
What better investment could there be Vibeke than to choose to “live a life of joy, harmony” and “appreciation of life very single day”. There is much to appreciate for the presentations and workshops and healing sessions that Serge Benhayon, and other Universal Medicine Practitioners offer.
‘looking after myself in very simple ways such as accepting and working with what I have instead of wishing I had something different, being present in what I am doing and listening to my body’ – such great wisdom about living harmoniously, to which your own experience attests.
The level of trust you have developed in life in inspiring.
A beautiful sharing Vibeke and it’s so lovely to feel the appreciation in your words. Thank you.
A gorgeous sharing Vibeke on what is possible when we live life in a more true and loving way.
Thank you Vibeke for sharing your ongoing daily appreciation for your life despite the challenges you have faced in recent years. It is inspiring to read how you have accepted the position you find yourself in and are grateful for working 6 days a week to give you the freedom to be able to access support to address issues in your life.
Wow I marvel at your expression, beautiful blog and ability to take responsibility for your life; very inspiring Vibeke. I also appreciate your commitment to your evolution and self care.
One of the most amazing things about this account is how you’ve not blamed anyone or anything outside of yourself for the situations you found yourself in. That victim mentality can make life much worse and drag things on for longer than needed, but instead here you’ve taken the practical self-care and acceptance of yourself and your situation and things have changed so much!
Our true strength is in each of us ‘accepting and working with what I have instead of wishing I had something different’. By taking responsibility and letting all our lessons guide us through our daily life we start to work with the flow, not against it. This is makes every day much less draining and exhausting and leaves no room for the victim mentality. Great blog Vibeke.

This is a lovely sharing Vibeke, a true conformation of the fact that if we embrace love, trust, and take the necessary steps, life is there ready to support us in the most beautifully simple ways. Thank you.
I am very inspired by your commitment to life, Vibeke. It’s beautiful to see how your life is coming to meet you as you unfold.
“With the support from Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine I am now in a situation where I can say I am appreciating my life every single day.” I’ve singled this comment out as that support has encouraged and supported you back to full time employment, to getting back out into the world and expressing yourself… not just that but actually enjoying it. Love it.
This is a beautiful account of how your life changed the way it did, and how you came to enjoy it in full every single day, very inspiring and thank you for sharing.
A gorgeous and inspiring blog Vibeke, you are living proof that no matter what age you are you can turn your life around and live with love and joy. The care and love offered by Universal Medicine and its practitioners truly supports us to make loving choices and to let go of what is holding us back from being all of who we are.
Your sharing is so beautiful Vibeke, it brings such joy. Living your connection to you has brought much love to all around you. Thank you so much.
Powerful Vibeke what your did is inspiring. A lot of women in your age would be depressed in such a situation but you showed them that there is an other way. What you have learned from Serge Benhayon “. . . looking after myself in very simple ways such as accepting and working with what I have instead of wishing I had something different, being present in what I am doing and listening to my body . . . ” is a great sharing because you bring it into your everyday livingness – wunderbar.
Wow Vibeke what an amazing turn around. And it is beautiful and inspiring to feel how you are enjoying and appreciating the joy of harmoniously living life with more vitality and confidence, as this is who we truly are. Thank you for reflecting that there is another way to live.
awesome to hear about you finding jobs. I love hearing the success stories and just how simple it can be.
This was a pleasure to read Vibeke. Changing countries and starting again is hard enough at the best of times but at 60 it is extraordinary. I loved how you have been virtually untouched by ageism and able to find not one job but two due to the work you have done with Universal Medicine, the commitment you have made to life and the support you nurture yourself with.
Its great to see that commitment to life – it makes you wonder what would happen to the unemployment statistics if everyone shared this same way of living.
Universal Medicine practitioners are an amazing support. Totally agree with you. They make a huge difference in daily life if we are open to be truly supported without diluting the fact that our life is entirely our responsibility.
A great sharing as I could feel how honest you have become with yourself, keeping life simple but oh so supportive by setting your life up to truly nurture yourself. What struck me was the line “If I had not learned from Serge Benhayon about looking after myself in very simple ways such as accepting and working with what I have instead of wishing I had something different, being present in what I am doing and listening to my body, my life would have been an on-going struggle given the difficult circumstances I had placed myself in.” How true this is – accepting, honouring and living with presence, very inspiring!
Beautiful Vibeke thank you for sharing the way your self loving choices are improving the quality of your life.
Serge Benhayon has inspired me to make changes in so many ways also. Everyday is a blessing.✨
Thank you for sharing Vibeke. My life has also turned around and had many changes for the better with the guidance of Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine.
Vibeke I love what you’ve shared, most especially the idea to accept and honour what we have and not wish for something else, this is so important, to honour us, our journey, and take the steps needed to express more fully the glory we are. And to do this we need to practically love and care for ourselves – this I feel very strongly from your piece. Thank you.
I agree Monica the power of accepting and honouring what we have whilst taking practical self-care steps is beautifully demonstrated in this blog.
Yes Helen, and reading it again today reinforced this for me, how we each have our paths, our steps and our evolution and we are all equal in our journey back to the live we are.
Thank you Monica, I really appreciated reading your comment. Life as a human being seems to be about accumulating things, material goods, children, career/jobs etc, and once we have these there are then more things to ‘get’. Rarely do we appreciate what we have and where we are at, we strive for things outwardly not realising the true riches are within, as is the true settlement. I also noted your words about the “need to practically love and care for ourselves” as part of bringing the full glory of who we are as souls to this world. My experiences in spirituality prior to coming to the work of Serge Benhayon where anything but practical and were truly not loving, so I very much appreciate this part of Serge’s presentations on self care. Self care is a vital foundation for living and expressing our divinity here on earth.
So simple. Thank you Vibeke. 🙂
Vibeke, it feels like you are rebuilding your life, every aspect of it with more love and that is very inspiring.
That is what I felt too, Sally. Vibeke’s commitment is to self-love and self-care – definitely inspiring.
Honest, simple and inspiring. Thank you deeply for sharing this blog.
Thank you for sharing this Vibeke, and I can relate to how supportive Serge Benhayon’s audios and courses are. Life changing I’d say.
Vibeke – it is so great to hear how you are turning your life around through self love and conscious awareness and choosing to be present. That is a brilliant choice. I too am in my sixties, and doing the same thing on the other side of the world!
Thank you for sharing your achievements and your commitment to yourself – it is an inspiration to me.
Great to hear and feel the changes you have made. Thank you for being a great example and sharing it with us all!
