Humanity is Not in Great Shape

by Matilda Clark

Pondering our current situation it is not hard to see that humanity is not in great shape… disease, corruption, war and social dysfunction are ever present all over the world. Looking back at history the cycles go on repeating and we do not learn or choose to change. There is no sense of unity: whilst we talk about caring for all mankind, we keep ourselves separate and distant from one another with adherence to one or another particular religion, a passion for upholding nationality or retaining some culture over and above another, whether it serves everyone well or not. We have a habit of placing one group of people in a position of higher importance than another, whether that is family, old school friends, club members, church goers, neighbours as opposed to foreigners, people with different beliefs, young people, old people etc etc. Continue reading “Humanity is Not in Great Shape”

Help!… I was Part of a Cult

By Joel L (Western Australia)

Not so long ago I managed to escape from a large and very powerful cult. I was born into this cult so grew up not knowing any better but still the hold it had over me was strong and my parents and siblings are still part of it.

There were strict rules about who I should and shouldn’t marry, there were clear rules about what I should and shouldn’t do on any given day. We would attend ‘Prayer Meetings’ where one of the church leaders would share interpretations from the bible and implore us to ‘be better people’ (and give money of course). An Unparalleled Commitment to Truth

When I first attended a lecture given by Serge Benhayon in London 7 years ago, I sat there as a University educated, self-confessed logical thinker, sensibly questioning and intelligent person, who had been pursuing a lifelong interest in the improvement of people’s well-being through education, employment opportunities, along with emotional and physical healing practices. I had worked for public and private enterprise, for government, companies and for myself. I subsequently reacted to the limitations in conventional medicine by establishing a 13 year career in Shiatsu and healing practices steeped in Asian philosophy, Buddhism, Yoga and meditation, that encompassed training and practice in Australia, Japan and finally the UK.

Along the way I used my considerable drive and willpower on my body to explore a large number of the ‘alternative’ health practices on offer, so that by the time I sat at this lecture, I sat proudly with my toned personal trainer type body, fresh off my bicycle, feeling somewhat ‘holier than thou’ on my raw food diet and alienated stance against conventional medical practices and pharmaceuticals. I also sat there with more than a healthy scepticism, as I was acutely cautious of anyone masquerading as a teacher but who was in truth a hidden guru, for I had sat at the foot of such a one for 5 years in Japan and was not about to be fooled again.
