Life’s Beachcomber

Walk along the beach one day and notice the footprints of those that walked before.

Some with deep heel strikes into the sand, others with toes gouging the sand as the person thrusts forward into the day. Each set of imprints can be felt and can tell its own story.

The ocean rises up the beach and as it recedes, washes the path ready for the next person. Sometimes the imprints are so deep that it takes a number of washes to clear the traces that were left behind.

Along life’s path, we all walk in a certain way and we all leave our imprint on places and people. This is our ultimate and inescapable responsibility. There is nothing that we touch, say or do that is not registered by the sands of time, and sometimes what we leave behind takes a number of washes before the path is clear once again.

As a society we invent ways to mask our footprints: the stimulating drinks that give the illusion that our steps are not as heavy and fatigued as they actually are, the photo-shopped images to keep the illusion of surface beauty intact, the false smile or the phrase “it’s all good.” There are multiple mechanisms and faces we show the world to pretend everything is okay.

But everything is registered by the sands of time. They have no interest in the facade and can only ever register the energetic imprint we leave behind.

Did we walk with joy, sadness, anger, reverence, appreciation, or bitterness? It all registers and can been seen and felt, and we can even be affected by the imprints of others.

Everything is registered by the sands of time, but this doesn’t mean we should be scared to walk, because what is registered is not done to judge or punish, but to allow us the grace of responsibility. We are free to walk how we choose and to have enough integrity to be honest about the wake and trail that we leave behind.

Energetic Responsibility is the new frontier in integrity, ethics and responsibility. It is a willingness to be held accountable for not only how things look, but also how they feel. It is an acceptance of the fact that we all walk the same stretch of beach time and time again, and the deeper the imprint, the harder we and the earth have to work to clear them.

The new age may have reminded people about the fact of energy, but The Way of The Livingness is reminding people that being aware of energy is only the beginning. Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are using.

  1. “Everything is registered by the sands of time, but this doesn’t mean we should be scared to walk, because what is registered is not done to judge or punish, but to allow us the grace of responsibility.” A beautiful reminder about life, that is, to be simply aware and learn.

  2. As we walk through life we are often blind to the impact we are making, unaware of our own footprints so to speak, some might say that is understandable considering we cannot physically see the imprints we leave energetically but I was considering if we throw rubbish out the window of a car and drive away, we can no longer see it but does that mean it is not there? Science is proving how a cell can take on an emotion and literally change physically, just by a word being spoken to it. It is only a matter of time before energetic responsibility will be a well-known fact, just like environmental awareness. If everything is made up of the same particles, then everything we do effects everything. This blog is bringing us all what we know is be true but choose conveniently to ignore.

    1. You give a very reasonable and tangible example of how when we do not see or are not aware of something it does not mean it does not exist. By making life about our five senses we are selling ourselves short as we are missing out on the grandness that we are part of and living in. It is like we are only looking at a very small part of who we are.

      1. Totally but one day, “grandness” will just be normal, the sixth sense, ordinary, I look forward to a future where these things are well, just normal. Even right now, in 2017, the fact that we can feel things, that we cannot physically see, is a well known fact, as a humanity we are still just figuring out what that actually means, it will take time to put it all together. One day, these blogs and comments will be studied and folks will wonder why a small group of people seemed to be ahead of time. On that day, I will laugh, where ever I am because the truth is we are ahead of nothing, we are simply returning to something we already know. I love Gods sense of humour, he cracks me up.

  3. Your words are a great reminder that being aware of our energetic imprints is a beautiful thing, that responsibility is only ever asking us to return to love.

  4. A timely reminder that everything we do, and the way that we do it is always registered and leaves an imprint.

  5. The type of energy we are using – is a brilliant focus to bring our attention to.. As we have lived based on a to b and more in and with results than focussing on the quality.
A brilliant invitation to focus on our energy first and then see the latter.. Work to do, will bring more focus to this myself, thank you.

  6. With greater awareness comes greater responsibility. But like you say Joel this is nothing to fear even though when we think about it we may not want to go there. The truth is its the greatest way we can care for ourselves and others.

  7. It is so true that when you see the footprints on the beach, you can read them, and get a feel for the person and the energy they were walking in. Then you have the ocean which comes along and slowly washes them away. How different the world would be if we were all wake to feeling the energy of our own foot steps, and the impact they are having on others.

  8. One of the themes that preoccupies humankind is the idea of the mask or the disguise or the fact that there is a double face or double show going on. But only one of these faces is real and that is the one who feels. Not the image that is cast out upon the world. In the end nothing can be hidden or glossed over. All will be revealed including all our imprints!

  9. Beautifully said Joel. The way we live is like driving a SUV accross the sand, then wondering why there are holes and ditches when we walk on the beach. No matter how much we would like to deny it, the fact is, the way we are effects everything else. Living in a respectful way isn’t a thing we ought to do to look or feel good but because it leaves an imprint of Love for others to build on. I always wanted to be a painter of light but now I can see we are all imprinters of Love.

  10. How different the world would be if we could physically see the imprints of energy we leave behind… although this pretty much happens already with the physical out-play of our choices and the energy we are choosing to move with.

    1. True Rachel. Life is but one big reflection. Some of which provide a big ouch and others confirm our very loving choices. Although some of the most loving reflections can be the hardest to deal with.

  11. “There is nothing that we touch, say or do that is not registered by the sands of time, and sometimes what we leave behind takes a number of washes before the path is clear once again.” . . . I love this Joel as it not only highlights the responsibility we have in our every thought word and deed it also shows us the beauty that can be beheld by all if we get ourselves out of the way and walk the sands of life in accordance to the impulses of the heart.

  12. What type of energy are we using is a great question Joel, and it is our free will to move in a way to re-connect to our most divine aspect, which bring the Energetic; Responsibility, Integrity, Ethics, Joy, Decency and Respect or the a lesser version that keeps us from the truth of feeling who we are? As the old saying goes when there is only one set of foot prints left in the sand God has not abandoned us but is carrying us. So lets all get off ‘Gods back’ and be responsible for our own Energetic Truth, which leads to a path that has enormous magnetic pull back to the Love we all equally come from. So if this is true could it be we are all equally the Sons of God and therefore there is never any need for judgement or criticism of another it is simple we all walk the same stretch of beach time and time again and some have felt the impact of there past and decided to re-connect back to their divine nature.

  13. I can totally feel the difference – striding along, pacing back and forwards, a gentle mosey from here to here, a determined hill climb, a move from a to b with purpose. Different qualities, different energies, all being magnified through the body and out into all that we do. Our choice at all times as to which we want to do.

  14. We leave an imprint no question, and while we cannot mask that truly (it comes back to bite us) it is possible to re-imprint through the simple expediency of how we move from this step forwards. That very much brings me to an awareness of how I am living now, every move I make, and the way I feel inside.

  15. ‘everything is registered by the sands of time’ And we are totally responsible for every step we take.

  16. Understanding that we do leave an energetic imprint everywhere we go, in whatever we do, is essential for our personal evolution, and indeed the evolution of humanity

  17. On a superficial level people may try to hide behind a false facade they construct but as you remind us Joel our energetic imprints are registered in ‘..the sands of time..’ for all to feel.

  18. “there is nothing that we touch, say or do that is not registered by the sands of time” – beautifully expresses the significance of every action we make.

  19. There have been times when I have been horrified by the impact of choices I have made and the wake they have left. Being able to reflect on this honestly sets me with a new foundation and willingness to take responsibility for everything I am.

  20. Everything we do, think and say is registered and felt, we are constantly having an effect on everything and everyone in our lives….. so it becomes imperative that we become aware of the type of energy we are choosig. This is our energetic responsibility.

  21. When I read this – “the false smile or the phrase “it’s all good” – I was struck by how we can present this facade, but actually be quite angry, or in a lot of frustration etc…. and how disconnecting that is for everyone. Because if you are walking down the street, and looking like it is ‘all good’ but energetically you are walking along in anger, it sends out mixed messages to people around you (even if we think we are not aware of it, we are!) , and also you are not taking full responsibility for what you are putting out there either. I know it because I have done it, and at times still do.

  22. I have been caught up in the fact that “no-one will know” if i do this but this is a total illusion because as you so clearly present, Joel, the sands of time record everything and the energetic responsibility we are in when we doing something is held in the universe until it is cleared.

  23. We all feel energy all the time, it is not some elusive mystery. The more we allow ourselves to feel the more we feel. From the inside out we are all emanating.

  24. It is the quality of energy that we are choosing that matters because it affects absolutely everything. Change the quality of energy and we change our life.

  25. There is no avoiding responsibility in life, even when we think we are in our irresponsibility. It all comes around however and catches us up, we just don’t necessarily recognise it as that when it does. railing against our misfortunes or ‘bad luck’ as though it were somehow random.

  26. Wouldn’t it be interesting if we could actually ‘see’ our energetic imprints, in the same way that we can see ripples in the water when we move in it. If this were the case we would at least have more of an awareness of the impact that we had on the world around us every time we make a movement. Curiously, we do all have the ability to feel these imprints in the same way, but most of us do our utmost to avoid feeling the consequences by using countless methods to dampen and numb this innnate ability that we all have.

  27. It feels so true to me Joel, that what you present here on energetic responsibility. It is indeed about our responsibility to not leave behind energies you do not want to step on yourself in the first place so why, for heavens sake, would you carelessly choose to leave them for anybody else in the first place? Only our ignorance to the fact that we are so much more than only flesh and blood makes it possible to live in denial of our responsibility and with the arrogance that comes with that instead.

  28. Exactly what sort of energy are we choosing, I had not considered this question until a few years ago, but when I did it really got me to stop and ponder and check in with how I feel and how I am with people. I noticed I used to get very adrenaline heightened with righteousness and busy-ness, these are just a couple of things that have shifted through not just being energetically aware but also energetically responsible.

  29. I love how you present here Joel that no matter how much we try to hide, numb or distract ourselves from our awareness of energy, the universal energetic laws are still there and continuing on regardless with no judgement until we are ready or willing to become aware of them again.

  30. I like how you point out we are often eating or drinking to hide how we are really feeling, the imprints that we are really leaving, we need to get really honest or else we won’t be willing to change.

  31. Walking around different sites in the world and feeling the energy they emanate can have a very different feel depending on the site. So what could we say about the great pyramid at Gaza, and could it be we can all feel the energetic imprint and if this is true could it be about energetic responsibility and True purpose, thus, what life is all about? An impress of Universality and Brotherhood – this is what I felt at Gaza!

  32. We all have a path in life, we are not aimlessly bumbling around with no purpose. Life’s purpose is to learn who we truly are, to reconnect to our essence, to be open and aware of encounters and choices where we can learn…this angle offers something very different to the atmosphere prevalent in humanity of irresponsibility, self and lack of purpose. How life is lived alters when we consider this as a possibility.

  33. I walked up to a very old castle today, ruins strewn around the top of a mountain. A lot has happened there in the 1000 years of its initial build. I could feel all sorts of things there, in the ground, how the rocks looked, the way the walls where built in different eras and for different purposes. There is no doubt from me that we leave ripples in all we choose and we all are equally responsible for what we leave behind in terms of energetic imprints.

  34. “The new age may have reminded people about the fact of energy, but The Way of The Livingness is reminding people that being aware of energy is only the beginning. Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are using.” This is a hugely significant point you make here, Joel, which clearly identifies how The Way of The Livingness is distinct from all over approaches to energetic practices. For me it was one of the key factors that led me to renounce my career as a kinesiology practitioner and completely change my life.

  35. Everything is registered, so true, we think we get away with our ways, but everything comes back to us as energetically it is impossible for it to not. If we factor in reincarnation then we are in a sea of energy that we must swim through over and over again, and our choices and behaviours face us and possibly confront us, every step of the way.

  36. So beautiful and so powerful : Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are using.
This is our greatest freedom – to be an observer of life, humanity and universality.

  37. It is so important in life I have found to really feel the quality of something energetically rather than just rely on my five senses. What has been most surprising about this process is that when applied it has completely turned upside down many things I took for granted were good things or harmless things that I did and I realised that they were actually not so harmless when I applied the energetic responsibility factor.

  38. The way we move, our every step, makes the quality our very next move and step.

  39. I understand more and more what a blessing it is that we constantly re-walk the imprints we have left behind. With that we are given the opportunity to feel the quality we have walked in before and either be confirmed in the truth they brought or know the lovelessness of our doing.

  40. Registering that each step carries an energetic imprint ramps up our level of responsibility in all our movements and expression in life.

  41. .
An amazing sharing on our energetic responsibility we all hold put so simply and clearly allowing this to be seen and felt so beautifully and inspiringly. I love the beach footprints analogy and its relevance to us all.

  42. A very practical, easy to understand way of introducing the laws of energetic responsibility Joel. This line really stood out for me today – “there is nothing that we touch, say or do that is not registered by the sands of time”. Everything we do, in every single moment, counts, and is registered. Check.

  43. To understand that we have an affect on everything and everyone with every step we take is not something that is easy to fathom. Thanks for this incredible piece that steps through exactly how and why this is the case.

    1. Yes, a superb piece of writing that so simple and eloquently presents a subject that is very daunting to appreciate.

  44. This is so true Shirley-Ann, we have a situation with the wooden fence falling down on the green and people are taking it onto themselves to knock more and more down – it’s as if it encourages others to think it’s ok to be irresponsible. Your comment has inspired me to do what I have been putting off and contacting the council with photos of how the situation is escalating.

  45. I always ponder on what it would be like to actually see our energy imprints that we leave behind. I love walking through my store in the early morning and setting it up for the day. It is at this time that it is my space to simply move as I feel to move and to imprint the store in a way that will support everyone who walks though the doors. The quality in which we move is so very cool and shows the level of responsibility we are willing to walk and learn with. Thank you Joel a very beautiful blog indeed.

  46. Our bodies are also an amazing logbook of the way we have walked throughout our life. They are with us through every choice we make and the imprint is left inside us. We can tell ourselves that we are doing ok and walking lightly in the world but our bodies will eventually reveal whether this is the truth or not.

  47. This is important to understand, that our footprints are not just our own to feel, but for all to be inspired by. Or not.

  48. Being aware of our footprints or any imprint that we leave in our wake helps us to appreciate the consequences of all our actions (both healing and harming) and to appreciate how we are all inter-connected with one another.

  49. Nothing we can do does not get registered we are constantly communicating all the time and in that expression we are either harming or healing.

  50. ‘because what is registered is not done to judge or punish, but to allow us the grace of responsibility.’ how beautiful this is. To allow us the grace of responsibility.. the space to become aware of how we move and of all of our choices.

  51. Joel, this is an emended sharing with our way of existence on show, which is the karma we set ourselves up with. So if we take the perspective as a Student of The Livingness then our every action and thought is all about being Loving and thus leaving imprints of Love in every situation to the best of our ability.

  52. Energetic responsibility is the new frontier…what a profoundly beautiful statement that reveals the way forward for humanity in general

  53. This is very spherical Abby and I agree, when the truth about Energetic Responsibility is understood then it we be like a wave and we will all be awash.

  54. The more I understand the fact that everything is energy, the more I realise the beauty of energetic responsibility.

  55. The honesty we can be in the way we have walked is such a key part of the process. If we are not prepared to see the whole and how we are in every step we take then we are avoiding all responsibility in the choices we are making. When you start to bring this awareness and you start to see the choices you have made in the past it can get a little uncomfortable and ugly. Which is a good thing because we are feel exactly what we did. The next choice we are more aware to take a step that is loving for all.

  56. ‘But everything is registered by the sands of time. They have no interest in the facade and can only ever register the energetic imprint we leave behind.’ Yes Joel, the record of imprints certainly has no interest in the facade but rather registers the energy of the act of making a facade and hiding the truth of the behaviour etc.

  57. As the waves wash away the many imprints on the sand, as they roll in and out, so too can we wash away the imprints that we have created in our lives that no longer serve us. It may not happen with the first wave but slowly and surely, they will be eventually ‘washed away’; how long it takes comes down to our next choice, and the next, and the next….

  58. “There is nothing that we touch, say or do that is not registered by the sands of time” – wow, this sentence alone really does highlight the fact that there is responsibility in everything we do say and think…

  59. What I love about this blog is how it so beautifully reminds us all that no matter what we do we cannot afford to fool ourselves about the things we claim we are doing as rightfully true when they in truth are not. All of us including ourselves are the only losers in this game

  60. When we realise that all our movements are an expression which leave an energetic imprint, it become so important that we do not move in negative emotion.

  61. “Along life’s path, we all walk in a certain way and we all leave our imprint on places and people.” What it is we don’t like to feel or take responsibility for is that fact that whatever we do, say or think, we leave energetic imprints, not just with people and places, but always.

  62. Discerning energy sounds tricky, until we realise that our bodies are reading it all the time and all we have to do is observe our bodies’ responses – building on this natural skill makes life so much simpler… less thinking and more feeling!

    1. I like what you are saying here. It shows that we do not have to do much but allow ourselves to feel, and if the feeling is too much (to ask) then we can simply observe, and with observing we will see things and allow for more awareness and with that we already sensitise ourselves and slowly find back to feeling that we are actually feeling (all the time).

  63. When we feel our footsteps it can be quite confronting – knowing they have left their imprint even more so. How do we walk – do we walk in anger or joy? Do we walk bogged down in our stuff, or do we walk being open to life? How are we imprinting the Earth and what path do we leave behind for others and ourselves?

  64. I work as a massage therapist and I discuss how people walk, in their sessions, how they walk, use their feet makes a big difference to how they feel, the emotions/energy they are in. So we look at posture, look at how the feet and hips move… how we move leaves a mark, just like our feet on the beach, the energy we choose trails/ripples from us and we do make a big impact one way or another in what we choose.

  65. I love the simplicity of just being aware and choosing what energy I walk in.

  66. The truth is, everyone does register when someone is being false, with a fake smile or an empty so called polite greeting. The imprints we all leave behind are felt by all, every single one of them. No moment is ever really a private one – we cannot have a quiet moment of rage thinking no one will know. It is felt whether we like it or not.

  67. The true energetic responsibility we all hold is offered here so beautifully and brings a far deeper and truer way of living with the responsibility of the energy we choose in every moment forever registered.

  68. Everyday, life’s waters wash up on our shore the remains and debris of our previous days. Rubbish litters our path ahead, while we tend to moan and decry the messy state of our world. Your words here Joel are so poetic and leave me wondering, isn’t it time we began to see that the quality of our environment starts and ends with the choices we make and how we pollute our inner world every day. Whether we like it or not it seems it’s just a matter of time till the sea reminds us what we need to understand.

    1. Absolutely, it comes back to how we are with each other – loving or not – that counts at the end of the day or be it ‘end of time’, as that is what defines how we feel and are. Everything we do, make, build, achieve etc. is evanescent but the quality we are in we can determine and deepen and that is what is felt and everlasting.

  69. What a powerful blog to fully understand that our movements say is all no matter what we choose to bring through our conversations.

  70. Stepping up and taking responsibility for, and expressing our own truth is a loving choice to make, even though at the time it may feel uncomfortable or a challenge, it is the way to evolve to bring truth to a situation. So that when you do walk forward, it is in the energy of more truth and light.

  71. ‘But everything is registered by the sands of time. They have no interest in the facade and can only ever register the energetic imprint we leave behind.’ It’s so interesting how even though absolutely everything is registered yet we continue the facade in complete ignorance and arrogance of even listening to our bodies until they give us the very needed wake up call through the healing of illness and disease.

  72. It is useful to take a moment to pause and ponder at the end of the day to consider what kind of imprints we have created during our day. What have we left in our wake? It is usually possible to feel this through the way the body is feeling, as the way we have moved effects us as much as the whole.

  73. Our whole body is a giant antenna that is capable of receiving everything. We are the ones that choose to retune and listen to only one station and treat the rest as just noise. What we listen to is reflected in the footprints we leave in our wake.

  74. The quite amazing thing about foot prints is that like on a beach we often walk back over the imprints we left behind. In the grace of this have to observe and meet once again all that we imprinted…as so in life too, certain events that might seem random are not so…just us returning to make a new imprint this time around.

  75. If ever we decide it’s time to initiate joy, vitality, well-being, harmony and love in life then energetic responsibility is the go to way to choose.

    1. Very true. Living and choosing how we want life to be and being responsible for our quality can only ever be a great thing.

  76. Energetic responsibility – humanity is truly worthy of not living with-out. And more and more is the evidence around us exposing that without it we aren’t living so well.

  77. Today I got very angry so my imprints in the sands were super heavy and deep rather than the light sweet imprint they can be. Needing to look a little deeper at why I was so easily enraged and then why it was acted from. I read somewhere that it takes your body 4 hours to get over a 1 minute of anger, not really worth it!

  78. I think it’s important to see that the way we live can actually support other people too – our responsibility of creating footprints is not all doom and gloom, because walking alongside other people provides the opportunity to share, inspire and collaborate on amazing things!

    1. And see and appreciate the unique amazingness that each person can only bring. Together we are all a blooming field of flowers reflecting.

  79. Energetic responsibility allows us to meet life challenges and not have to rely on medications from the world in order to cope but to connect to our soul as when we walk and express this way we are setting a path for others to follow on their way back home.

  80. This beautifully encapsulates the lives we live and how everything is registered, that there is nothing that is insignificant and thus how very important the quality is that we chose to live in and with.

  81. Every moment we are leaving our mark – we may as well make it true and loving and not one that is “off course” and “missing the mark”.

  82. Yes I agree Joel that . . .” . . our ultimate and inescapable responsibility” . . . is the imprints we leave behind for the next person who comes along to feel. This is massive and brings up the question of what energy we are choosing to walk in. Are we harming ourselves and others as we walk or are we healing?

  83. Our quality can be felt by the footprints we leave, and they are still there whether in the sand or unobserved. How we walk gives a lot of information about how we live.

  84. I was sitting on the bus the other day and could feel the energetic imprint of the person who had been sitting there before me. It was interesting to feel as it felt heavy and contracted. It was a great reminder for me to check in with my own quality!

  85. It is important to understand that everything we do leaves an imprint no matter what, and that imprint will either support another to evolve and be more or succumb them to their knees in desperation of their disconnection from soul.

  86. ‘There are multiple mechanisms and faces we show the world to pretend everything is okay’ So true Joel, and we also believe it ourselves.

  87. “Energetic Responsibility is the new frontier in integrity, ethics and responsibility. It is a willingness to be held accountable for not only how things look, but also how they feel. It is an acceptance of the fact that we all walk the same stretch of beach time and time again, and the deeper the imprint, the harder we and the earth have to work to clear them.” This brings the true reality to ourselves life and what it is all about and is shared so beautifully Joel Thank you .

  88. Very beautifully said Joel: ‘Energetic Responsibility is the new frontier in integrity, ethics and responsibility. It is a willingness to be held accountable for not only how things look, but also how they feel.’ There has been a huge learning for me in this, especially as regards ‘not only how things sound, but also how they feel’. I have been so often filled by polish ad talent and have ignored the devastating energetic affects on my body.

  89. Most of us are not aware what impact it has on others how we move and how much we are influenced by the movements of others.

  90. “Each set of imprints can be felt and can tell its own story.” – It matters not how we step in the sand, the imprint is always left for all to feel. The question is what kind of an imprint do we want to leave for another – one that supports them or one that pulls them down?

  91. The imprints we make as we move through life are left for others to feel. Best to make them with ones full of quality and purpose rather than ones of disregard.

  92. It’s such a blessing how we are always offered moments, spaces to let go, resolve, deepen, appreciate and move forward but always tend to complicate and go into movements or behaviours (retracing old footprints) 👣 that don’t allow this to be the lived fact.

  93. Leaving loving imprints not only blesses other but us too – win win situation

  94. This article holds so much grace and yet asks us to deepen our relationship with responsibility, taking it to its highest level – energetic responsibility.

  95. Absolutely, both the Universal ‘All’ and the whole ‘personal’ history is met in a person in every encounter – and we go around as if we don’t know everything instantly! The potential is surely mind-blowing. Being able to read this and knowing that this life isn’t ‘it’, is a great step towards true service.

  96. Amazing Joel, without energetic responsibility life would still be on the same cycle so it would be like the same-same no different, which was taking us no-where. When we do not have energetic responsibility our issues become buried and the feeling would be they have been washed clean. In all honesty behavioral conditions are only healed when the root cause is unfolded as we walk through life with the spring of love in most steps, as there is no perfection just a student relationship with our-self. So energetic responsibility is worth-while pondering on as it is a Loving way to be, so it brings Love into all our relationships. Then with the way we move and express with Love will be part of our unfolding as we heal, so the level of True-Love we are connecting to is forever expanding as we evolve.

  97. This is so true Joel… “we all leave our imprint on places and people. This is our ultimate and inescapable responsibility.” The big ‘R’ – responsibility… not so big when it comes from the love, joy and harmony we all know ourselves to be and share with others.

  98. Often at the beach when I see another’s footsteps I try to take them. What I’ve always discovered is that it is impossible – we can never walk anything but our own footsteps.

  99. Every part of our body is calling us towards energetic responsibility, at all times. And the truth is we do feel it all.

  100. I have never considered there is a bitterness in me – but there is – I am not sure what I am bitter about – it will be interesting to see what things it is. I think I’ve put on or had this belief I don’t feel all these things, such as anger, bitterness and rage – but I do big time. Much better, or far more important to be honest than pretend we don’t feel things.

  101. Such a great blog Joel to be reminded that every split second our choice has an impact on the whole. I know I have and still do have moments where I find it al to much and I want the comfort of being ignorant to this fact. But less and less this happens and I now see that choosing this awareness is actually a remarkable way of living.

  102. I’ve recently spent time near the sea and have been able to walk on the beach most days. It’s a busy, long and sandy beach where people love to ‘passeggiata’. The footprints left in the sand are many and varied – as are the bodies that pass as we walk. That everyone is unique in physicality, that each step placed holds each and everyone’s distinctive experiences, choices, hurts and emotions just begins to hint at the sea of energy we live in and the responsibility we each therefore have for one another, as it is our energy that we all encounter, even though we may not pass one another physically.

  103. Reflections in the sand our footprints and the energetic responsibility we all have with how we walk and what energy we walk in and leave behind what a great revelation of us all to deeply ponder on and the choices we make and love being the most important register in the world and the Universe for all is felt by all.

  104. As I revisit this beautiful blog I get the sense of how responsibility is a ‘tool’ of love, supporting us all to know and reconnect with the truth of who we are. It is not the onerous thing I once believed it to be, but an empowering choice, supporting our evolution and growth back to being the love we innately are.

  105. “… what is registered is not done to judge or punish, but to allow us the grace of responsibility.” And what an immense grace it is, constantly affording us another opportunity to make a different choice, a choice based on what is true for all, rather than what is in it for the individual.

  106. “Did we walk with joy, sadness, anger, reverence, appreciation, or bitterness? It all registers and can been seen and felt, and we can even be affected by the imprints of others.” quite simply there is no time for a day off from quality, when we do as in if we don’t express whats gone on then we end up with lots of mess to clean up, lots of imprints that were missed potentials of inspiration that have to be turned to fire.

  107. The more aware we become of our imprints the more responsibility we have = Joy as it is a great joy to witness the beneficial difference we can make if we choose to leave loving imprints!

  108. Yes indeed our responsibility is to which energy we align to and everything else follows from that.

  109. Walking with the dog in a new area, I am drawn to look at people’s gardens, the dog is sniffing everywhere, and it is easy to be distracted, but lovely when I return to my body and feel the internal grace that is there.

  110. ‘Sands of Time’ – takes me back to Persia and Egypt. That is a lot of energetic irresponsibility to be wiping out with waves of Love in the new era. Still, God is always there.

  111. I love this observational, reflective approach to life. It takes all the angst and issues away. It allows us to watch, learn and understand without all the reactions and brings a depth to life that my body misses.

  112. As others have shared here how often do we pause to look at what we have left behind us? Not very often, only if an illness or accident happens are we made to stop and take a stock take of our life and how we have lived and this is mainly through shock or fear but on a daily basis this is not something that we currently do … yet everything is energy and energy leaves an imprint so it was seem vital that we truly learn this valuable life lesson from small by elders who truly live this and walk the talk.

  113. This feels like it makes everything so simple i.e only the energy we choose matters, everything else is looked after from then on.

  114. This should be discussed with young children at school about the effects of how we move and the responsibility that comes with that, to then support them in true responsibility.

  115. Energy never lies. Beautiful to see it this simple. Anger, rage, sadness, bitterness, grieve, drive, hardness, all different energies, but no one is loving. We can heal all these emotions through our opening up our hearts which is equal to start feeling our own love again. Masking or hiding our pains and woes doesn’t bring us anywhere, even though on the outside it might look great. Together we’re responsible for the energy that we leave behind on the planet. Is it healing or harming?

Personally I didn’t know for a long time how to live this in daily life even though it resonated within me the first time I heard it. It takes time, space and a lot of understanding for oneself to come back to live the love we are. And the more I grow, the more I understand that indeed every step is registered. No matter how hard I try to walk away from the ‘harming’ choices I’ve made. Understanding, understanding, understanding is the key!

  116. We can pretend we don’t feel the imprint but that’s just so we don’t then have to feel the responsibility of our walk. Pretending my walk has no consequence as a means of being reckless is easily addressed with the honesty of observing that it does.

  117. The Way of the livingness is revolutionary in its teaching of energetic responsibility – no matter how unpopular it may be, they do not back away from the fact that we cannot simply be and do as we please for it is an undeniable fact of life that we have an impact on the world and those around us – therefore what kind of an impact are we going to chose to have?

  118. To know that everything is being registered is huge for most people, are we, to the best of our ability, prepared to live accordingly?

  119. Once upon a time, we were challenged in
the same way as we are challenged now, we had feelings, some of us a deep knowing that the world was more than what we were taught but if we dared to elaborate on those thoughts we would be cast out for witch craft or sentenced to death. We were told that the earth was flat, that what you could see was all that existed? We must continue to be brave enough to challenge the statuesque if we are to truly brake through the dummy we have all been sold.

  120. This is a great article to remind me of what can be done and all that can be done by simple walk or footprint. I imagined when I read the article of walking over the beach just like it said but then I had a thought that what if I had walked the same path over and over again as again the article mentioned. What would be the depth and imprint of my footprint? If over many, many years I had walked in the same spot I’d imagined there would be quite the imprint and while the ocean washes away the physical look of what I have stepped on the beach the energy or the imprint will always be there unless I clear it. I love what this brings to me and how and what you can feel. I was one who walked for the sake of walking, walked because that’s just what we did and yet know I walk more conscious of where I put my feet. It’s not a concentrated step for perfection but more a dedicated step to feel my feet and bring awareness to what I leave in my step.

  121. And what I love about being around gentle men and the multitude of qualities they naturally are, is the space they hold for me to be all that I am as a woman, unguarded and open.

  122. This is a beautiful piece of philosophical writing that has me pondering the expansiveness of a word such as responsibility and in awe of the quality of reverence. Thank you, Joel.

  123. What’s amazing is to realise that we do all walk on the same stretch of beach, regardless of our nationality, country of residence or race and that our footsteps are global imprints. It’s empowering to know that we walk beside 7.5 billion others.

    1. I agree Susie, very empowering – imagine the impact if we all chose to live with energetic integrity.

  124. The more gently we walk on this Earth, the less stressful the clearing we create for ourselves and the Earth. Thank you Joel for this thought provoking sharing.

  125. The Way of The Livingness is developing our relationship with Energetic Responsibility and our awareness of the type of energy we choose to live life by.

  126. Energetic Responsibility will take time to be generally accepted as many, many people will not want to change the way they live nor wish to face the truth and reality that it entails. However, inevitable it will be and although initially unpleasant for many inevitably it will be foundation upon which true brotherhood will be built.

  127. “Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are using.” A whole new science waiting to be explored by humanity but one that is as old as Time itself, a science that restores to us our divine glory.

  128. “We are free to walk how we choose and to have enough integrity to be honest about the wake and trail that we leave behind.” thats super wise in that we are indeed free to choose how we walk but its then being honest with what effect that causes, for most we claim we are free but we ignore the ripples we put out to society.

  129. Any beach at the end of a busy day looks like choppy sea with the footprints of the day. But, what if the first person of the day walks with themselves and leaves that energetic footprint for everyone to walk in?

  130. To see that everything is registered by the sands of time and nothing can be hidden can be uncomfortable but also very freeing. There is nothing more beautiful than the truth which reveals itself.

  131. The imprint we leave behind is so far-reaching it can be mind-boggling because it brings up the stupendous responsibility we carry. We don’t want to consider that our thoughts and actions behind closed doors impact well beyond our very door… that each imprint we leave behind is an imprint for all, humanity as a whole, and that everything we do impacts humanity in its entirety and nothing less.

  132. Joel, each time i read this blog, it deepens with another richness of wisdom shared about energetic imprints.

”But everything is registered by the sands of time. They have no interest in the facade and can only ever register the energetic imprint we leave behind.’ – We all leave behind energetic imprints, what are we leaving for another? Energy does not just dissolve into thin air, it is all around us and it carries a quality and that quality affects us as it passes through us.

  133. ‘They have no interest in the facade…’ so true and simply exposes the waste of time in trying to pretend something is something else that it’s not.

  134. Every footstep of our footsteps counts. Every single one of every single person living on this planet. Isn’t it super beautiful to feel that we do matter! That what we do makes a difference. That the choices that we make determine the level and quality of love that we live. And that we’re forever offered to grow our love. To return to who we truly are. And in that process forever grow our responsibility and influence that we have on people’s lifes. Life does have Purpose. And we’re the drivers, symbolically speaking.

  135. That there is nothing that we touch, say or do that is not registered by the sands of time means we are also hugely supported by those responsible choices we have already made over and over again.

  136. I find foot prints, or the soles of shoes, a fascinating study – seeing where it is we place our feet first or most heavily, where the sole has worn or we have built up hard skin, where we wear a hole in shoes from gripping with our toes or scuff them from dragging our feet or being careless – there is much that our walk can share with us about our bodies.

  137. Just like the foot imprints on the sand that we can see… this visually demonstrates how we leave imprints everywhere we walk and on anythings we touch… This makes you consider the quality of the way we live, move and speak in.

  138. ‘Energetic Responsibility is the new frontier in integrity, ethics and responsibility. It is a willingness to be held accountable for not only how things look, but also how they feel.’ – Very well said Joel – we cannot escape energetic responsibility and the fact that we are accountable 24/7. The question is are we willing to live it?

  139. The Way of The Livingness made me aware of the importance to bring attention to everything I do and to start noticing which energy I choose. I learned that before I act or verbally react, there is always this moment of choosing and whatever I choose has a huge effect on everything – in a positive or in a negative way. Although most of us cannot see it, everything is energy and which energy we allow to run through us while choosing the words we say or doing the things we do, has a major influence on whatever comes next.

We must continue to be brave enough to challenge the statuesque if we are to truly brake through the lie.

  141. It can be so easy to get caught up in the way things look and to be fooled by its appearance so to take the energetic responsibility and feel into everything is absolute key for us to get on in life. This element has been lacking for too long and we have to stop ignoring what we are feeling.

    1. Great call, Natalie. I know that when I dismiss what I am feeling chaos breaks out. Clocking what I am feeling and then taking action is something I am so up for practising and seeing this becoming a totally natural way of life.

  142. “It is an acceptance of the fact that we all walk the same stretch of beach time and time again, and the deeper the imprint, the harder we and the earth have to work to clear them.” Joel I love this analogy for what I feel is Karma, the fact that whatever we do in that what quality of energy we choose has a consequence.

  143. “Along life’s path, we all walk in a certain way and we all leave our imprint on places and people.” The imprints that we leave behind on people can last lifetimes. When we truly understand the level of this impact, we will take much greater care of one another.

  144. ‘Masking’ ‘disguising’ and ‘facades’ are all symptoms of our behavioural patterns when we are not connected to our essence. There is nothing but to be completely transparent and let all the glory be seen as well as the ‘warts’ and to allow ourselves to feel the quality of everything.

  145. On another blog, I read about an genius trial carried out whilst visiting a local Science Centre: (https://wordsonsergebenhayon.wordpress.com/2017/07/08/push-force-and-gentleness). The equipment that measures the force applied when you squeeze something was used to compare carrying out the activity in the usual manner or gentleness. When it was done with gentleness the equipment did not register the force! This suggests that we can live life “in a certain quality without brute force and thus register little or no effect on our surroundings.”

Wouldn’t be amazing if we all lived with such care and dedication about the footprints we leave behind in life?

  146. We are free to walk how we choose and to have enough integrity to be honest about the wake and trail that we leave behind.’ This is very profound – footprints in the sand leave a physical imprint, but more, the energetic imprint, the quality of that footprint. Which we can feel as we see those footprints, the footprints of humanity. We all leave a quality and a mark in our everyday lives. This is our responsibility – what footprint do we leave behind?

  147. ‘Did we walk with joy, sadness, anger, reverence, appreciation, or bitterness? It all registers and can been seen and felt, and we can even be affected by the imprints of others.’ All to be deeply considered Joel, and makes such a difference in our own lives and relationships when we do.

  148. ‘As a society, we invent ways to mask our footprints…’ this is so very true. We have become masters of pretense. With this understanding we can choose to see all of these ways and make different choices.

  149. Did we walk with joy, sadness, anger, reverence, appreciation, or bitterness? It all registers and can been seen and felt, and we can even be affected by the imprints of others. This makes so much sense, as if everything is energy, then our thoughts and how we move are energy, so having a thought while walking which is what most of humanity do every moment, is a huge pool of emotional energy out there in so called space. Do we then think it just dissipates or gets blown away by the wind or something, no, it’s like oil on water, never goes away.

  150. Thank you for the reminder that everything counts, I tried to pretend last night that it doesn’t and that I deserved to ‘check-out’, ‘let-go’ and not care for myself so much, and this morning I can feel the effects of that. Every moment does count and leaves an imprint, and as you say, it is our responsibility to look at what imprints we are leaving.

  151. Man I just can’t wait for the day when enough of us wake up from this nightmare of energetic irresponsibility to make it a normal thing to be aware and responsible, but I guess I’ll just have to wait for a while yet.

    1. Yes we may have to wait a while… however, I feel the inspiration of walking along side even a few who are stepping up to this opportunity to incorporate energetic responsibility into their lives and do not shy away from confirming the impact of even just one.

  152. This blog brings a deep awareness of how the quality of every single movement we make can be felt everywhere, by everyone, throughout the world energetically, like soft ripples or big waves spreading out from a still, calm lake, that a pebble or a rock has been dropped into.
“Did we walk with joy, sadness, anger, reverence, appreciation, or bitterness? It all registers and can been seen and felt, and we can even be affected by the imprints of others”.

  153. I was walking on the beach last week and the wind was sweeping past me along the sand, lifting it up and evening it out so that the footprints ahead were covered over. I could see the people in the distance ahead of me yet their footprints were barely there. The sweeping clear of our footprints by the tides and the winds are beautiful to witness.

  154. Keeping this awareness in our every choice is key, this level of responsibility is what we are all deeply craving but have been avoiding it like the plague because it exposes all the choices that are have been making that are not honouring and respectful of who we are. This becomes very uncomfortable and challenging so it is easier to not go there. But with what sacrifice does this come with?

  155. “As a society we invent ways to mask our footprints: the stimulating drinks that give the illusion that our steps are not as heavy and fatigued as they actually are, the photo-shopped images to keep the illusion of surface beauty intact, the false smile or the phrase “it’s all good.”” Yes this is very interesting. We cover up our exhaustion, our true feelings – ourselves basically. But by doing this nothing changes because we hide from each other how unwell we are, thinking we are the only one when actually no-one is liking the situation as it is. If we start to become more honest by stopping to put on the face by eating less sugar and drinking less coffee or energy drinks to start with things can start to change as we will see the true state that humanity is in.

  156. I am deeply interested in the quality I and we walk in and how transformative it can be to , make a conscious choice to alter and refine it, this is symbolic of how we walk through life in all ways, can we refine and develop it…I would say yes.

  157. When we walk with the appreciation of our beingness, every imprint we leave behind sets a mark of a new way of being that is in connection to our soul and that is a huge healing for all.

  158. What is also inspiring is how when we walk with energetic integrity we can reclaim the ill we have created.

  159. To walk with this level of awareness brings a whole different level of responsibility to how we are when we are walking, all of the time.

    1. Yes Sandra, a loving responsibly that considers all of us. In fact our every movement leaves an imprint, how we speak, write, act, move and on and on…

  160. The beach is a particular place. It is the only place (as far as I know) where we can walk and look behind and see our footprints, stop and study them. We can also study other people’s footprints and learn something about who walked before us. This possibility is absent elsewhere. Yet, our imprints are far from invisible if we dare to pay attention. Yet, even if we do someone may ask and so what? Why should I bother? Because we return to them. They attract us back. So, paying attention is a choice between walking forward or swimming in known waters.

  161. ‘Everything is registered by the sands of time, but this doesn’t mean we should be scared to walk…’ To feel the enormity of having walked and (still walking) with irresponsibility is alarming, but in making steps, (literally) to change them, there is the simplicity of just taking the next step in greater awareness.

  162. “Everything is registered by the sands of time, but this doesn’t mean we should be scared to walk, because what is registered is not done to judge or punish, but to allow us the grace of responsibility.”
It is good to clear this illusion that we will NOT be punished for our mistakes, like burn in hell or similar, but that the constant reflection we receive from God, whether we notice it or not, is a grace meant for us to take responsibility, to give us the opportunity to re-imprint those steps that we walked without love in our hearts.

  163. “There are multiple mechanisms and faces we show the world to pretend everything is okay.” How absolutely refreshing it is to meet a person who face remains consistent, open and steady regardless of the situation. Learning to live a one quality throughout all we do is a true skill, one that leaves steady, light and loving footprints in the sand that bless everyone who crosses over them. That to me is true ambition.

  164. It has been said we never stop living as long as we are remembered, but that can be for good or bad reasons. So, these footprints last for lifetimes, untouched by tide or time.

  165. “It is a willingness to be held accountable for not only how things look, but also how they feel.” Joel in my experience it is easy to make things “look good” and I’ve been to many hotels where that is the case but to have something that feels supportive, loving and true – well thats a whole other thing.

  166. When we come to accept that we all walk the same stretch of beach time and time again, and the deeper the imprint that we leave the harder we and the earth have to work to clear them, we will start to understand the responsibility we each have to live with energetic integrity.

  167. Certainly as we walk back through all the imprints that we have left in the past it is a sobering lesson about how careless we have been. May our footsteps be in harmonic resonance with the stars.

  168. The fact that we can feel if a footprint/imprint is left in anger, sadness, etc is confirmation that we all know energy, and we can all read energy, all of the time.

  169. We use many devices to mask our exhaustion – caffeinated drinks, sugary drinks, sugar in any form, stimulating entertainment, and in truth they serve to increase the exhaustion.

  170. What a great opportunity to feel whether we have brought appreciation to our every move.

  171. After a storm has scoured any beach it feels amazingly clear and free from any imposition, as is the re-imprinted Student of The Way of The Livingness who has a similar feeling of non-imposition after a Universal Medicine event. Once a Student has healed the emotional hurts and reactions from the past, it becomes their Livingness and movements that clears the impositions and imprints of their past ill ways of living. Their movements are simply a part of their normal activities as they go about life and because of the love that is lived they are re-imprinting the foot-prints with loving ways as they move.

    1. So just like the rhythm of the waves, our movements when done in a rhythm that has divine purpose, it allows the energy that we move in to keep on clearing us.

      1. What a beautiful and poignant point to make about rhythm Greg – divine.

      2. When a living Rhythm is felt it is then simple to feel what is going on in the body and then what can be felt that is not in that Rhythm can be nominated and the healing process can start.

  172. I love the way you write Joel, it is deep, understanding and connected.

  173. “There is nothing that we touch, say or do that is not registered by the sands of time, and sometimes what we leave behind takes a number of washes before the path is clear once again.” This is the level of responsibility that we can all take to consciously and with awareness if we so choose to, after all whether we like it or not it is happening!

  174. How many words there are for the way people walk! You can plod, or lope, or stride, or swagger, and many more for the variety of ways of walking from the light tentative steps to the firm and heavy. All these reflect the personality of the person and their attitude to life, and how they have treated their bodies. We recognise people from their walks. But how if, as we evolve to live our lives in true care and respect for ourselves and everybody around us, we find our walks are becoming gentle but sure, powerful in our own authority, our bodies aligning and flowing and making little impress on the ground, would all our walks be the same? Some may think that would be boring, but how much connection we would feel as we all walk in the same energy, in harmony, harming no-one, as One.

  175. When I lived by the beach I used to love walking along the sand and looking at the different shapes and sizes of foot prints and watching the tide come in and wash them away. There is something quite beautiful about watching the ebb and flow of the tide; what it washes onto the beach and what it takes back out to sea.

    1. Beautiful observation Mary-Louse! There is something very mesmerising with nature and how in its own powerful yet delicate ways it supports us all … and in so doing is an eternal reflection of the level of responsibility that we can all step up to when we are ready to do so.

    1. I love this Rachel – very simply put! I was reminded last night by a dream I had of energetic responsibility and that the choices I make in disregard don’t just affect me but all of us.

      1. This is the leaning for us all isn’t!… we don’t tend to think that the choices we make effect everyone… like if we have that extra glass of wine, or chocolate, or stay up late to watch that movie our first thoughts are about how we feel, without considering the energetic repercussions on everyone else. Serge Benhayon has transformed my thinking in this regard…and now of course it is to live what I now have clarity about! Every choice impacts everything and everyone. This is huge in terms of taking responsibility. This can seem daunting, but what Joel so beautifully shares, it is just taking the next step.

    2. And, how often to we pause and look at what we have left behind? It is always an opportunity to appreciate our movement or correct our steps where needed.

      1. Could this take us a step ahead so our movements are appreciated before we even move? And if so then maybe a movie with the appreciation of the affect without any fancy effects of how we move in a way to bring a quality of loving imprints! Thank you Rachel, Michelle and Steve this has been a possible step into the future.

  176. Choosing to take every step with energetic responsibility and integrity is very loving and supports evolution, but when we deny this exists it is a huge sign we are avoiding evolution.

  177. Joel what you share here is very true, as we walk through life we have a responsibility for what we leave behind for others to walk through or over too. It only takes a moment to be with ourselves to truly feel the destruction we and others leave behind in our wake, and how different it would be if we all took responsibility for every step we take.

    1. So true Sally – it does only take a moment to check what is the imprint that we send out with absolutely ever movement and thought. Do we need to ask are we worth this sort of time?

  178. ‘But everything is registered by the sands of time. They have no interest in the facade and can only ever register the energetic imprint we leave behind.’ We can make all the excuses we like but it is always our responsibility for the imprint we leave behind.

  179. ah yes amazing. Everything that is registered is not to judge or condemn, but to leave a marker of what is truly loving and what is not, and thats the way that the Universe works.

  180. This is where we are heading Joel because responsibility as we commonly are taught it and understand it are not enough for a healthy and harmonious society – “Energetic Responsibility is the new frontier in integrity, ethics and responsibility” for us to all embrace, in every aspect of life.

  181. A beautiful reminder Joel. We do indeed leave imprints wherever we go and until such time as all our imprints grace the Earth, we will have to retrace every single one.

    1. Agree Nikki the sand reflects to us in a very visual way that we do leave imprints every where we go. It is our responsibility to make sure the quality of these imprints will support all who walk in our wake.

  182. ‘Did we walk with joy, sadness, anger, reverence, appreciation, or bitterness?’ A great question to ask yourself in moments throughout the day so that different choices can be made if necessary, or an allowing of deeper appreciation and love.

  183. “As a society we invent ways to mask our footprints…”
So beautifully said Joel! We put so much energy into masking our footprints instead of just bringing that same dedication to leaving footprints that leave us and the world in awe.

    1. I agree Rebecca – anything we choose to take with us from the day before is our choice to carry it with us rather than let it go and learn from it.

  184. All our attempts to cover our tracks will never erase the impress left behind until the day we choose to walk in love and then we give our selves an opportunity to clear our impress generated over hundreds of years. The beauty of truly understanding this is in learning to appreciate that every hurdle we face in this life is actually us re-crossing the tracks we left behind from another life and so we have the opportunity to clear an old and unloving impress or dig it in a bit deeper, depending on how we choose to move and respond.

    1. Beautifully expressed Rowena, I reckon when we fully understand and embrace what you’ve shared, there is no blaming our circumstances, God or anyone for how our life pans out. It calls us to take responsibility for every aspect of our life. When we start taking responsibility we realise how freeing and loving responsibility actually is.

  185. The loving movements we make, our every true thought, intention and presence graces the earth and leaves an imprint of our love.

  186. Waking up each day with an understanding of what it is to live with energetic responsibility supports us to be loving with ourselves, take care and be tender in all that we are and do. The moment we forget this we leave imprints harmful to others that take years or lifetimes to clear.

  187. “As a society we invent ways to mask our footprints: the stimulating drinks that give the illusion that our steps are not as heavy and fatigued as they actually are, the photo-shopped images to keep the illusion of surface beauty intact, the false smile or the phrase “it’s all good.” There are multiple mechanisms and faces we show the world to pretend everything is okay.” I feel this paragraph is something that should be studied at schools around the world, what if the quality of our footprints were at the forefront of our daily activity, how incredible would it be to grow up not covering up the truth and pretending?

  188. Observation is a fascinating and powerful process. As you mention Joel, the footprints can be deep at the heel, more so at the toes… there is so much to learn, and to bring understanding to, when we simply observe – ourselves, others, nature and life itself.

    1. Observation is the only way to not be swept up in the currents of life or forging a path that is other than our truth.

  189. We walk the same stretch time and again… and each time we are gifted with a clean slate to try again. Do we pay attention to the imprints from before, or read how others are walking in front of us or beside us? Do we note with joy or comparison those that seem to tread more lightly through life’s journey. We can choose to do things differently at any time, meanwhile the world keeps going round offering us another opportunity….. and another.

  190. Some of my imprints are so resistant to change it takes a tsunami, which brings a huge shift and then the wake of waves that follow to remind me to never walk those steps again.

  191. Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are using. This is so important and would change everything dramatically if we all knew and heeded this truth.

  192. Absolutely. There is an amazing holding quality in their body and that also holds others around them. No imposition what so ever.

  193. ‘Did we walk with joy, sadness, anger, reverence, appreciation, or bitterness? ‘
What a question! And one that brings a beautiful account to anyone person asking it about any one moment or day. This question alone brings a great deal of honesty, awareness and self reflection and that’s an amazing point to work from.

  194. As a society it seems that if we were to even come to the understanding and honesty of the things we use to mask, distract and numb that we together as a whole would be on our path to healing this. However many do not want to see or admit that such things are in their life because of an underlying reason and are often then faced with the reality of what the body presents in an illness or disease when it simply can not keep up. There are many today though who have started this honesty and journey of taking more responsibility in life which offers a reflection and reminder to others. Thanks Joel for this blog. It’s a real beauty.

  195. For humanity to just consciously come as a whole to this fact and truth would change the world as we know it today ‘There is nothing that we touch, say or do that is not registered by the sands of time,’ Choosing to be aware of this would allow each person to take responsibility for everything in their life starting with their own body and movements.

    1. And then what would this offer the whole? How we approach the larger topics such as the way we run business, the way we deal with global issues, the way we call people to account for not supporting the whole, the way we parent and teach and so on?

  196. We all walk the same stretch of beach brings back to me the feeling that everything in truth is shared as it affects us all.

  197. Each footprint is unique, as we all are, but as everything is energy we all have a responsibility as to the quality of energy with which we place each foot on the earth; are we adding to the pain of the earth or are we bringing healing? To know that every step we take, in fact every movement we make, comes with an energetic responsibility changes the whole way we have lived in this world; it reminds us that we are just not individuals we are part of one big family, humanity, and as such in every moment we have a responsibility to each and every one of our family members.

  198. The imprints in the sand and the rhythmic flow of the waves reflect much about life. Every wave is a cycle and will come back, the imprints will be washed away, they will be cleaned up. Life offers these same cycles for us to flow with and the same opportunity time and again to make clear our expression within life and the divinity and power of who we truly are.

  199. This blog reminds me of that passage about a man who dreamed of walking on a beach with God, and how through the toughest moments of his life he only saw one set of foot prints, and he thought it meant that God had abandoned him, when in face those where the times God had carried him. As we walk, we chose who or what walks with us – do we align to God and the support offered or do we chose comfort, emotion, irresponsibility and allow that to weigh down or steps?

    1. It’s very beautiful that we are all always given fresh starts to make new choices – this does not mean past choices are instantly wiped out but it does mean through reimprinting, honesty, awareness and taking energetic responsibility that the past heals far quicker making way for our true natural way of being and living.

  200. ‘The new age may have reminded people about the fact of energy, but The Way of The Livingness is reminding people that being aware of energy is only the beginning. Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are using.’ – Thanks for pointing this out Joel – there is a distinct difference. What is the quality of energy are we living and expressing and ultimately contributing to the whole?

  201. it is beatiful to read this again feeling the truth in your words, we are allowed to walk in any way we fashion but are constantly provided with the fact of the responsibility that we hold with the energy we choose.

  202. How absolutely divine is it when you walk with you in your essence and are with every gorgeous movement. It’s just simply too joyfull for words.

  203. Weather we want to be aware or even if we are not aware at all, we are leaving imprints all the time, every moment of the day and I know that in the past, some of mine were pretty shocking and it is only with awareness and a good dose of willing to be responsible, to not harm another, to realise that each and every step, word or action has an effect on everyone as it ripples out… this knowing is what has changed my way, the I walk and what I leave behind.

  204. This stunning blog has got me considering at a deeper level the imprints I leave behind during the day. I can feel super connected and in a quality of stillness as I start the day, but then often go into a drive to get things done, caving into the illusionary pressure of time. There is certainly another level of responsibility being called for here.

  205. We are only at the beginning of understanding that being aware of energy is only, yet crucially, the starting point of bringing true responsibility for us all to enjoy and flourish in.

  206. Love your mention of not being afraid to walk just because of this responsibility. If we walk in love, then it is those footprints that feed us back that love. We are always supported and held so there is definitely no right or wrong with true responsibility

  207. Reading this highlights how far from responsibility and integrity we have allowed ourselves to drift, and now find ourselves at a point where we feel everything but do not realise it. And from this stand point it is easy to see how we get locked into our own problems with our heads down, and without any awareness of the energetic imprint we leave behind.

  208. “The new age may have reminded people about the fact of energy, but The Way of The Livingness is reminding people that being aware of energy is only the beginning. Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are using.” Yes Joel, we cannot dismiss this fact for it is fundamental to each and everyone of us as to how we are, how our lives will be, and the impact that we have on other people.

  209. “Along life’s path, we all walk in a certain way and we all leave our imprint on places and people. This is our ultimate and inescapable responsibility.” Joel we think our footprints are ours, yet the truth that I can start to feel is that they are our responsibility for all humanity to leave behind an imprint that inspires others to evolve, therefore they are not really ours but for all.

  210. “There is nothing that we touch, say or do that is not registered by the sands of time …” A huge and irrefutable responsibility that if we shy away from, is still ours for eternity. Being taught about this fundamental truth from an early age is our essential education, so that we learn how to leave a loving impress in the sands that support the whole of humanity to evolve our awareness and true intelligence.

  211. A beautiful illustration of how our energetic imprints need to be cleared and a beautiful reminder of the importance of energetic integrity in all moments.

  212. How different will our footprints in the sand be when we all come around to living the fact that the only thing that really matters is energetic truth.

  213. ‘But everything is registered by the sands of time’. A powerful reminder we are responsible for the quality we bring to each thought, moment and word.

  214. There is such a deep wisdom delivered in the simplicity of your words Joel. How blessed are we that however deep the footprints may have been ‘dug into the sand’ in walking without care or awareness, we have the opportunity to make new choices in every moment and we can begin anew on a pristine beach.

  215. Beautifully said Alexis – True Brotherhood shall reign once more.

  216. Footprints in the sand and taking notice to the different imprints we each make on the earth is a wonderful metaphors on life and how we are treading through it. Our classroom certainly is all around us.

  217. “The grace of responsibility” how beautiful are those words, so different to the way that word felt to me in the past, one of carrying a heavy burden, having to get it right, as I walked back along the beach the other day and saw my foot prints I was reminded that I am here to heal and re-imprint the unloving choices I have made throughout this life and others lives.

  218. I remember the ‘buzz’ time few years ago when everybody, corporates were all on about ‘carbon footprints’ and its effect on mother earth.. and for reducing such footprints as part of corporate social responsibility efforts — which is all fine, however isn’t this merely hoodwinking to cover or distract us from the actual true (corporate social) responsibility needed – our energetic footprints and energetic responsibility and how it’s this that impacts mother earth and the balance of nature.

  219. When I consider facades I observe myself and others trying to cover up an aspect that really needs consideration, a level of understanding and discussion is being called for. But pretending all is fine and discounting what is there to be addressed can lead to disaster – I am reminded of the UK tower blocks being covered up to look good, trying to ignore whole communities rather than embrace those who live there.

  220. We can clear our past imprints with more loving ones at any time. When we are willing to take energetic responsibility and willing to heal, it is amazing how much we can clear and inspire others along the way.

  221. Energetic imprints…. even in our thoughts … we have a great and wonderful responsibility to live Love.

  222. Gorgeous Joel, a deeper awareness of what it is to walk in true responsibility. Walking with our awareness wide open knowing that our every move is countered for.

  223. “They have no interest in the facade and can only ever register the energetic imprint we leave behind.” This façade is worth pausing on for a moment. We spend a lot of time perfecting the ‘outside’, on the image we present to the world and very often we don’t notice we slam doors, for example, till someone tells us we are doing it. The tension can build so slowly that we simply take it as normal, yet what we leave in our wake can be felt and affects others. It is worth taking a moment to consider the possibility, just in case we have a normal that is imposing on others.

    1. “It is worth taking a moment to consider the possibility, just in case we have a normal that is imposing on others”.
This is a great call Lucy – it is very easy to be unaware of our own patterns and momentums that others can find annoying.

  224. I am peeling back layers of deeper understanding with this blog. I love looking at the footprints in the sand and will often pay attention to the imprint I leave as I walk one way and then walk back over them on the way back. I look at the depth of the imprint – so what I can physically see, but also how I felt, what have I left behind for others to walk in. It is all an opportunity to deepend my understanding of energetic responsibility and that everything is the result of a choice somewhere along the line.

  225. Don’t think I have been to the beach in over a year and to think I lived by the beach for 8 years and the thought of moving to the country and not being able to do my daily walk on the beach horrified me at the time. Having lived inland for nine years now and every day loving my walk with the birds and wallabies and my neighbors, I do not miss the beach at all. Exposes how we have these ideals that are just rubbish and to think it nearly stopped me from moving.

  226. The Way of the Livingness offers amazing understanding of what comes before our footfall or imprint on everything, bringing responsibility to life in very joyful ways.

    1. Same for me Sandra, The Way of The Livingness has certainly taught me about taking responsibility, how deeply loving it is and the joy it brings to my life and others around me.

  227. Would we walk differently if we knew that we would return to our own footsteps again and that they are not just left behind us?

  228. It is the same for me Abby. The term ‘beachcomber’ as used here by Joel in this context allows us to feel the amount of precision required (think fine toothed comb being combed through sand) on our part to address the imprint of what we leave behind. After all as this blog states, our energetic responsibility is to be aware of the energy we are using – is it true to the love that we are, or is it not?

  229. The grace of responsibility is not the usual term many people would choose to use, probably feeling it is heavier and harder to sustain than the flowing, light quality the phrase infers. But our responsibility can be the joy of walking this earth in grace, love and light, and the fact that we get the opportunity to wipe out the old imprints as the tide ebbs and flows, and re imprint by choosing loving steps, is a joy in itself.

  230. In truth, nothing is ever left behind but walks with us until such a time that what is being walked, if not an expression of the love we are, will trip us up at every step. Thus it is our movements – our commitment to life and its true purpose; to evolve back to Soul – that is the water that erases such imprints in the sands.

  231. ‘Along life’s path, we all walk in a certain way and we all leave our imprint on places and people. This is our ultimate and inescapable responsibility.’ When truly felt, and acted on life’s priorities take a truly different perspective.

  232. ‘Everything is registered by the sands of time, but this doesn’t mean we should be scared to walk, because what is registered is not done to judge or punish, but to allow us the grace of responsibility’ – This is absolutely stunning, Joel. It’s true that we hesitate to take steps forward in case we make the ‘wrong choice’, but regardless of if that choice is true or not true we will still feel it’s consequences played out, and this is an opportunity to learn the science of Responsibility first hand. Standing rigid in one spot as the world keeps spinning is a self-curse.

  233. We always affect! Always, not one second we don’t leave an imprint that we cannot escape, but what we do affect is the quality of our imprints. Isn’t that very, very loving? Yes, it requires responsibility in the choices we make, but it does give us the influence we all want in life. And, we LOVE it as we’re responsible by nature and do a lot to offset this natural feeling.

  234. The imprints we leave behind are for both others and ourselves to walk over again and with each step, no matter what has gone before, we have the opportunity to leave an imprint of grace – something that has the potential to inspire us all…

  235. The best example of energetic imprints I have is from seats on the London Underground – you feel the warmth of the previous occupant, there may even be a smell, but feeling my mood change as I sat down – that was interesting.

  236. I like this – no holding back! Perfection is one of the greatest illusions there is and serves only to keep us small.

  237. And imagine if that beach were a circular track which we walked around, seemingly going forward when in fact we are not going anywhere – we will have to come back around over the path we walked before – how did we leave it, what quality do we come back to and have we evolved since then?

  238. Yesterday I observed as a stream of foot prints were being left on the busy pavement on the way home. How would our world be if each of these were walked from love?

  239. “Energetic Responsibility is the new frontier in integrity” – I just love this line, our integrity stands for everything in this world, and our accountability for the energy we choose and for every step we make is a huge part of that integrity.

  240. I love the way nature holds no judgement yet commits in full to steadily and consistently clearing those footsteps left by man that have not been true and loving. Think about it those great pyramids have remained through the test of time, a loving reminder in harmony with all, yet nature has no shame is wiping out other structures that man has built that does not hold that same loving imprint.

  241. I love how this message is conveyed, we must never be scared to make mistakes but always open to the responsibility to consider how our way of living affect everyone’s way of living.

  242. I love the way you describe the sea washing over the footprints and providing a fresh ground to step on. This is what we can do for ourselves each day. Wash away the old and make fresh new choices.

  243. I felt your words very strongly this morning as I read your blog again Joel there is so much wisdom in your writing.
How everything we do is being registered by the sands of time because we leave an energetic footprint behind and this is felt by all and we are feeling everyone’s imprint whether we realise this or not and it affects the way we behave with ourselves and to each other. We have all cringed when someone has an angry outburst and stepped back from the aggressive energy that is given off. Therefore it stands to reason that we can also feel joy, sadness, misery etc. What if we were able to live in a way that was harmonious that there was joy in our lives most of the time? That would completely change the dynamic’s of the world. This is what Serge Benhayon presents that if we were to live in a harmonious way with ourselves first it will give others the opportunity to feel that there is another way to be. Then we have a choice. And if we all lived this way not in perfection we would have Heaven on Earth and this would be a huge step in the right direction of getting us all back to where we come from. Imagine that as beautiful as this Earth is, this is not where we are meant to be, we come from a place far greater – who wouldn’t want to go there?

  244. We leave our energetic footprints everywhere and this is where Energetic Responsibility comes into its own and proves to be of utmost importance.

  245. I get an image of a forensic team working on a crime scene picking up little clues like strands of hair, fingerprints and bits of DNA. In a sense we do leave a physical imprint behind us wherever we go. Maybe in future, we will have ways of measuring the energetic impact of our lives but until we do, we can always reconnect to our innate ability to feel and sense energy to know what we leave in our wake.

  246. ‘But everything is registered by the sands of time. They have no interest in the facade and can only ever register the energetic imprint we leave behind.’ A super reminder that we can kid ourselves all we like but the truth remains the truth, unfettered and unaltered no matter how much we like to deny it!

  247. Thanks for the reminder Joel of the responsibility we all have in each and every moment with all that we do, say and think for such things affect all those around us, and unlike footprints in the sand that eventually get washed away, these energetic imprints are forever “..registered by the sands of time…”

  248. Beautiful how the beach brings to our awareness the invisible imprints that we leave behind. However, if we really focus on our bodies in the moment, we can become aware of the quality of these imprints in all we do.

  249. “There is nothing that we touch, say or do that is not registered by the sands of time, and sometimes what we leave behind takes a number of washes before the path is clear once again.” The consistent rhythm of the tide coming in and out can represent a minute, a day, a year, a lifetime or an era, but in it is the opportunity to rekindle responsibility and clear what we have left behind.

  250. If you question the affect of our energetic responsibility on others, that it doesn’t affect others, yawn in a crowded room and watch the ripples it causes!

  251. We moan about pollution and environmental damage, but choose not to see the effect that we make just in every step that we take. Wherever we walk there are existing imprints too, and like ridges, bumps and wild undulations they can make us trip if we don’t read the lay of the land and make our true quality count. Thank you Joel for this reminder that life really is as sweet as a walk on a beach.

  252. Your article makes clear how energetic responsibility works and what kind of consequences it has if we do not choose it. Energetic responsibility is huge if we see the emmanation of what we leave behind.

  253. Me too Abby. It starts with we are all already grand and love and perfectly enough. We are in fact multidimensional.

  254. A gorgeous reflection Joel, taking and challenging each and every one of us to live our ultimate responsibility;
“Along life’s path, we all walk in a certain way and we all leave our imprint on places and people. This is our ultimate and inescapable responsibility”.

  255. Footprints on a beach are no different to invisible footprints in an office or workplace — and that if we are walking unaware of our ‘footprint of energy’ and its quality or vibration typically being in emotion, stress, anxiety, upset, anger, divisive, and so on, then no wonder there are workplaces with ‘sick building syndrome’.

  256. The beauty of our imprints is that we can see just how energy and the quality of energy outplays in our life and how we have the choice to either walk with love or walk with distraction or hurts etc. The beauty of choice , is that we can always choice to move with a different quality of energy in our very next step and re-imprint our steps once again.

  257. Energetic responsibility is certainly the new frontier that we need to be exploring as a race – not whether there are watersheds on Mars or a planet that looks like the earth – interesting as these phenomena are : ‘Energetic Responsibility is the new frontier in integrity, ethics and responsibility. It is a willingness to be held accountable for not only how things look, but also how they feel.’ If there were a ‘secret’ to life this is it!

  258. The power that we walk in can be incredible and then with this true understanding of how we walk this can take us to a deeper level of honesty. What we are connecting to and feel becomes our responsibility because of how we move when we walk. There is an integrity and responsibility that we are actively aligned to and this is a power-full blessing for all those who are willing to take those steps towards being responsible. Thank you Joel this is great and I feel a deep level of appreciation for what you have presented.

  259. ‘…what is registered is not done to judge or punish, but to allow us the grace of responsibility.’ Now this is worth pondering on. To let go of judgement so what is there to feel is clearly felt, free from the distorts of shoulds and oughts. Then we get to feel responsibility, the love that it is and the grace.

  260. “But everything is registered by the sands of time. They have no interest in the facade and can only ever register the energetic imprint we leave behind.” A beautiful reminder of the energetic responsibility we have for our choices and the effect they have, not only on ourselves and each other, but what effect they are contributing to the whole, being either harmful or harmonious but with no in between. “Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are choosing.” Thank-you Joel, for your blogs with there insight-full analogies always leave an Energetically Responsible powerful imprint and give me much to ponder on.

  261. By trying to hide the imprints we leave behind, we are trying to hide our irresponsibilities – which never works because they are constantly reflected back to us in all our interactions with others! And yet when we are responsible, energetically responsible, life transforms and those around us are also inspired to become more responsible.

  262. It is ridiculous really how we try to hide our footprints when they are so clearly visible to everyone.

  263. ‘Being aware of energy is only the beginning..’ This is so true Joel and the real work only starts there as to actually live from knowing that every movement counts towards not only our environment but the entire universe is quite the responsibility to accept.

  264. The new steps we take hold the potential to affect the imprints of all the previous steps we have made.

  265. I’ve discovered a love for glass and mirrors in the same way as the foot-prints in the sand. Visible finger-prints gently reveal where I’ve been and the quality of imprint I left behind.

  266. Yes! It’s one thing to be aware of energy, but then what do we do with it. The type of energy we choose to align to is detrimental to the quality we live in. The past few days, I’ve noticed I’ve been feeling a little down, and a lot of old patterns of wanting to be alone and segregated from people are coming up. I can choose to align to that energy and go deeper into the wallowing and allow that energy to take over or I can choose to observe it as if it was happening, but not actually true to who I am, and just be open to feeling why these old patterns are coming up.

  267. ‘Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are using.’ Serge Benhayon presents the ageless wisdom that there are only two sources of energy from which to choose: astral or divine; spirit or soul. We can move in one, or the other – we just have to be on to which of the two we are choosing. And if we’re choosing responsibility, we’ll be going for the divine, and the soul.

  268. We are free to walk how we choose and to have enough integrity to be honest about the wake and trail that we leave behind. Absolutely, and I remember some time ago, the words of a very wise and gorgeous young man during a workshop, that he would never disrespect nature by thinking about other things while walking in it. This I felt to the core of me and it inspired me to also have this loving intention.

  269. ‘Did we walk with joy, sadness, anger, reverence, appreciation, or bitterness? It all registers and can been seen and felt, and we can even be affected by the imprints of others.’ – It is a truly sobering thing to become aware of energetic responsibility and how everything affects everything and everyone.

    1. And also know that we can change it at any moment if we do choose. Being aware allows choice.

  270. As an example of our ability to feel energetic imprints, as I was reading this blog I had a strong feeling that it was written by Joel Levin. Yes, I have ready many of his other wonderful blogs and one could dismiss this feeling as being based on writing style alone, but I would say it was more accurately based on picking up the energetic imprint that is unique to Joel’s beautiful expression

    1. Joel’s blogs absolutely have a very unique flavour and I too Michael seem to be able to pick them a mile away after reading a line or two. Joel has a beautiful true philosophical way of writing and I can imagine him sitting and having many philosophical discussions with groups of people lifetimes ago.

  271. Thank you Joel , the ultimate humour is that we have to become the wave to wipe our unloving imprints on the sand , no matter how stubborn and intrenched we get, we come back to clean up our own mess.

    1. And this in itself is a graceful blessing. Although as people we do not intentionally choose to get into the mess we get into at times or get illness etc we soon learn through cleaning it all up that by not honouring ourselves and choosing us then we are in fact allowing life to dictate how we end up.

    2. Love it John. No longer be the individual and join the clean-up brigade 🙂

  272. When we see our footprints in the sand it is an awesome reminder of the trail we leave behind… the question is: will those following us be harmed by our irresponsibility or graced with our responsibility?

    1. Great question Paula. How will our future generations be because of what we have left behind. Will they be inspired and hold their energetic responsibility and be in life with purpose or will they go into the indulgence, distractions, the giving up etc. many things in life which are not of truth seem to becoming common or ‘normal’ and the more we normalise the untrue ways of living the further man slips away from living his glory within.

  273. The imprint that you leave with your words Joel is hugely powerful and beautiful. It allows us another opportunity to go deeper with our commitment to live with greater responsibility and to feel the reality of the impact that each of our steps – and movement have, both within and on the wider whole. As I re-trace the steps I have so often trod I am realising that each detail in the way I live life can detract or add to the unfolding of our Universe.

    1. I agree Susan this is such a beautifull blog asking all to look at how we are living and I really love what you have expanded on here in that words/expression is a movement that is just as equal to how we are walking .. all leave an imprint so what imprint are we choosing to leave behind?

  274. This reminds me of what a dentist once said to me, in that teeth tell their own story. Just as our feet and footprints carry our living history, so does every part of our body. And there is simply no escaping this fact.

    1. So how many stories are we carrying in the body that we are not tuned in to?

    2. And isn’t it true that every part of us and life carries a story. Eg a persons face or feet or the way someone walks. To see all the imprints in life and read it is a true blessing.

  275. Thank you Joel… What is also extraordinary is that whole civilisations have disappeared, whole Epochs have been wiped away by the tide of time… And yet we can when we reconnect with that divine spark that is within us all, we leave a lasting imprint that is visible for all who can see to see.

    1. This is beautiful Chris. There is a grace in this when we allow ourselves to see the ebb and flow that will be there across everything in life, and how everything will have its course because everything is transient except Love. Everything else has to keep reinventing itself in all sorts of guises and forms.

    2. I love this Chris, hard fought bloodied battles over civilizations that no longer even exist. Yet, the essence of each being remains unchanged and available

  276. Society is currently by and large built around ways to mask our footprints, there is a ready made distraction from what it is we’re actually leaving behind. Whether that is the industry of media with its false pictures, the many religions with ideals of good, government incentives that actually truly serve no one, or our way of life with one another that warrants the sugar/alcohol/drug/sex fix. All these considered to be normal life, but in truth are all there to cover the natural, rhythmic, inspirational footprints we otherwise can leave behind.

  277. Gosh, Joel, this is so true. We actually spend a lot of energy and money masking our footprints – on food, drugs, alcohol and a huge array of distractions simply not to feel the consequences of our choices and movements through life.

  278. ‘Along life’s path, we all walk in a certain way and we all leave our imprint on places and people.’ This already happens and now we are aware of it, what is the imprint anyone would wish to leave behind? The answer is obvious but this exposes us to feel the energy of which footsteps have we walked with up until this moment and take the responsibility for our own imprint every step of the way.

  279. Great call to bring energetic responsibility to all our movements and the imprints that we leave behind.

  280. I would imagine that most of us dont even consider that every footprint we leave on the ground leaves an imprint that another will pick up, whether its good or bad. If we fully appreciated the impact that we left behind with every footstep and also how others footstep’s affected us, there would have to come a time eventually when we all took full responsibility for the way in which we walked.

    1. What you are sharing Sandra is that with awareness comes responsibility, joyfully so.

  281. ‘ Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are using.’ yes Joel, our every step is carries this and imprints, it is that simple.. do we chose to walk in love or not?

  282. Such a blessing of the beach to be able to see your imprints, unfortunately I do not walk on the beach that often but when I do I have always loved that aspect of the beach, not looked at them deeply for reflections of livingness but now I will. Thank you again Joel for such beautiful observational writing.

  283. The Way of The Livingness presented by Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine has made my life super simple and purposeful. All my relationships have improved because I have developed a deeper relationship with myself through self-nurture and self-care.

  284. “There are multiple mechanisms and faces we show the world to pretend everything is okay.”
We continue on as if we have mastered these false faces and cleverly use words to paint pictures, yet we have a phenomenal ability to read the depth of someone’s stare, the ease and naturalness of someones movements – this is where the real truth of who & how we are is expressed.

  285. We are extremely clever in our attempt to wash away the imprints we leave behind us but the reality is that we just keep on digging a deeper hole for our selves, from which we will eventually have to climb out of. Becoming aware of the effects we have not only on our selves but also on one another is an essential start to us tidying up the quality of the imprints we leave behind.

    1. Yes, Rowena, boy do we have a lot of tidying up to do…! And it starts by taking responsibility for our own bodies and how we move through life.

  286. No matter how we try to mask our lives with glossy photos and those fake smiles, we can’t alter the energetic imprints we leave behind…the truth is left in our wake for all to feel. Ouch!

  287. I love the phrase ‘the grace of responsibility’. There is a feeling of gentle inevitability that we will, when we choose to, accept responsibility for the energetic imprints we have created. It is not threatening and respects our right to choose when, but sensitively points out that it will happen…one day.

  288. Beautiful Joel, the sands of time register everything and so we are made aware of the footprints we leave behind with the loving notion that this imprint can be changed at any moment in choosing the quality in which we move.

  289. ‘The new age may have reminded people about the fact of energy, but The Way of The Livingness is reminding people that being aware of energy is only the beginning. Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are using.’ The clarity offered here is awesome. Thank you Joel.

  290. Energetic responsibility and the type of energy we are using can be so different to the picture we carry concerning responsibility and the energy we use.

  291. This is a good point to look back and check, its reviewing the day to look at our footprints and to observe, appreciate what is true and expose what is not.

  292. Joel we could cut through all the complication, all the trying and all the problems if we made energetic responsibility the foundation of everything we do at work and in life. As you say “Energetic Responsibility is the new frontier in integrity, ethics and responsibility.”.

  293. This is a beautiful way to describe our responsibility in life Susan, are we prepared to check back the way we have lived or are living and are we prepared to take our responsibility to life to that level of integrity?

  294. Indeed Joel, energetic integrity is the next step to go, to become aware that we do influence one another with the behaviours and moods we have. We think to have the right to have these moods and behaviours from the idea that this is normal to being a human. But it actually is not.. This way of thinking is from the false belief that we can do whatever we want as we all live separate lives. But the truth is that all of our lives are intertwined wit one another on the energetic level. This level of integrity we have to understand is natural to the human nature, more natural than the moods and behaviours we think we are allowed to have..

  295. Beautiful sharing Joel- how we move, how we think, how we speak all lays imprints that we leave for others to walk through and also for us to have to walk back through to reimprint with truth and love.

  296. Thank you Joel! What I can see from this sharing is that we need to be aware of the fact that we are the ones responsible for what we leave behind. And depending on the energy we walk in, will harm or heal on this ‘Earth Plane.

  297. “The new age may have reminded people about the fact of energy, but The Way of The Livingness is reminding people that being aware of energy is only the beginning. Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are using” – totally Joel, what you say here is a complete blessing i.e. getting to know whether that energy is truly the light of the soul, fire, or not and prana, spirit, masquerading as the true energy. The more connected I am to my body, the more i can decipher the energy, what’s clear and what’s not… it’s no surprise our world is in numbing distraction and dis-connection to not know this fact of energies, to not take responsibility – ignorance is not bliss, but only ever irresponsibility.

  298. Much can be read from our footprints, from the way we walk and move.

  299. Yes, the new age reminded us of the fact of energy but what energy do we choose to walk with is what The Way of the Livingness is presenting for us to consider.

  300. Energetic responsibility has been with us from the very beginning of time. When we conveniently ignore it or think it doesn’t exist, this doesn’t make it go away. Every moment of every day calls us to take energetic responsibility reminding us to be love.

    1. Indeed Chan, every wave, every day, every season, every cycle brings another blank canvas, another opportunity to embrace energetic responsibility and fly!

  301. I have read this too Adam and I was deeply touched by it. Afterwards I realised how we often think God abandons us during our times of struggle and we think we are alone but in truth God is always with us. It is our own choice if we cannot feel God’s consistent loving presence.

  302. ‘But everything is registered by the sands of time. They have no interest in the facade and can only ever register the energetic imprint we leave behind.’ Absolutely Joel, whatever we say or pretend nothing changes the truth of the quality of energy wit which we imprint the earth, with which we imprint every movement. Anything less than Love is an illness in the body and on the earth.

  303. The fact that every move we make is registered and effects the all is a level of responsibility that many of us do not live with. Very inspirational blog Joel.

  304. The footsteps left when we walk alone carry equal importance and therefore responsibility as those when we walk with others. There are no unseen energetic imprints.

  305. We pretend that everything is ok but deep down we know it is not, we can feel the impact of all our choices and eventually that comes back to us, either in the form of an illness or some other way, but come back to us it will, because it is us who have to clear up our own mess.

  306. ‘We are free to walk how we choose and to have enough integrity to be honest about the wake and trail that we leave behind.’ Looking at the wake we leave behind may not always be that pleasant, but is part of how we develop our awareness and we can also, first and foremost, appreciate just how absolutely amazing we truly are and the Love we can imprint life with.

  307. What you bring to life in this blog Joel is so beautiful and a precious truth. A truth that we all know, and are presented with time and time again. Life is for us to be living that which we know to be true, and in this we are supported by the collection of our imprints in the sands of time. Records of the ages.

  308. Understanding and recognising that there are different qualities or vibrations of energy is a crucial step for us all to truly evolve, from this awareness we can then step into taking deeper responsibility for the quality of energy that ripples out in our wake – either harming or healing…

  309. There are many layers to ‘energy’. I hear the word being used a lot, but rarely do I hear responsibility attached to it. It’s often related to as a good or bad feeling in response to someone. Energetic responsibility is a whole other, much deeper level of awareness that includes taking responsibility for our responses to the energy and the affect that then has on another.

  310. I love this blog Joel, as I often take note of the foot prints in the sand, or how a room feels when someone has just walked in and dumped their anger within that space. We all feel it but now its time to really be aware of it and the fact that how we walk affects everyone else, but its not just how we walk, it is how we think and how we express and how we drive our car. Even the unsaid things are felt, or the unspoken, for you know what it feels like when someone is throwing unseen daggers at you as they are thinking that what is going through their mind is theirs alone.

    1. Yes, it’s time to embrace the awareness we do have, and our natural ability to discern the energy that is chosen in any given moment so we can reflect upon what kind of world we are saying yes to and contributing to. I may not like what the world feels like but becoming aware of how I’ve contributed to what I don’t like is an important step to saying no more choices that add to its disharmony – including any of my reactions to it being how it is and using the ‘state of world’ to justify these reactions!

  311. A beautiful addition – we can work the other way – rather than leaving anything that requires clearing we can support in that clearing through the way we live

  312. If we could all come to this same understanding I wonder how we would all be living?
“Along life’s path, we all walk in a certain way and we all leave our imprint on places and people. This is our ultimate and inescapable responsibility. There is nothing that we touch, say or do that is not registered by the sands of time, and sometimes what we leave behind takes a number of washes before the path is clear once again.”
If everything we do has a cause and an effect then surely it stands to reason we should take far greater care in what we do and say because we all effect each other in everything we do. So currently we are all disregarding each other to such an extent that we are stressed out and checked out because we don’t like the world and society the way it is. May be it’s time to reconsider our responsibilities to the world and everyone in it?

  313. My whole life changed when I started to become aware of Energetic Responsibility, it was a game-changer. I had thought of myself as a pretty responsible person up until that point, but l had never really considered nor taken full responsibility for how I was energetically and what impact that was having on me and the world around me.

Energetic Responsibility was introduced to me by Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine, and one example that really stood out in the early days was when Serge Benhayon asked us to consider how we walk on this earth and what impact that might have on the earth, I thought about the way I was walking then and it was full of drive, hard, pretty love-less and a bit empty. And I thought that was just me, and there are how many billions living on this earth and in what energy are they walking in??? And what impact that must be having on the earth. Since then, I have changed the way I walk, considering what is the energy I am walking in, and I can feel I have lessened the impact as I walk much more in harmony with the world around me.

  314. I really like this example of how our imprints have to be cleared just like the footsteps that are placed in the sand on the beach. If we would be able to see them everywhere we would become far more responsible for what energy we are walking in. Yet we don’t see that at this time but we do feel it, so that is a great place to start.

  315. It’s true, we can tell so much about a person by the way they walk and the footprints that they leave. This is very evident in the sand, but it is also possible to feel this too simply by the wake that someone leaves how it feels. We are so very sensitive, and we feel more than we care to give ourselves credit for.

  316. It took me a long time to discover that I do have influence on the way I walk. If I am with the loveliness, warmth, delicacy, sweetness etc, this is what I walk. Whenever I am connected to this purity in me, it is an absolute joy to walk (or in fact do anything). We do have energetic responsibility and what I love about it is that the more I appreciate myself, the more I am adding loving (and healing) energy onto this planet. We do make a difference. The quality is our own choice…

  317. True Joel, everything is registered by the sands of time “this doesn’t mean we should be scared to walk, because what is registered is not done to judge or punish, but to allow us the grace of responsibility.” And appreciating the steps in grace is the building block to then naturally walk in more responsibility.

  318. I recall being invited by Simone Benhayon who offers incredible swimming lessons to move in the pool, then stop, turn around and feel what I left in my wake. At the time I was unable to put my finger on it, but I knew I did not like what I felt, and gradually I started to realise that I also did not enjoy swimming back in the wake I had left behind!

This was the beginning of my absolute knowing that we bring the sum of the energy we have been living up to that moment to whatever we engage in, and that is the wake we leave (which will impact others as well as ourselves later on) – just like the gorgeous analogy of the footprints in the sand.

    1. A brilliant and welcome reminder Golnaz, thank-you! I have also participated in the same exercise in a swimming session with Simone Benhayon – and wow for the immediacy and ‘wake-up call’ in regards to how I express in every single moment…
I experience the same with voices and singing – there is absolutely no hiding in this. All that we are living is revealed immediately in one single note sounded… So much to learn from, continuously, in our relationship with self and the All of which we are a part.

      1. If we just ceased from making ourselves numb to our experiences and appreciated the reflections in front of us, as you say we are constantly offered so much. Yes Victoria everything we need in order to learn about the enormity and magnificence of who we are and the All we are part of.

  319. A brilliant blog Joel. To not only have the awareness of the imprint we all leave behind by each movement and expression that we make, but to actually take responsibility for it is ultimately life changing.

  320. If we could see the footprints we leave on every surface, we would get the reminder all the time to observe how our movements are. I have had an episode of low back pain recently and because of the pain, the body is returning me to feel every step, every movement I make and the impact on the body it makes. It is quite a revelation to have that awareness of the detail of every movement, as a reminder, just like looking back at our footprints in the sand. It is our energetic responsibility to live our lives in the quality of Love that causes no imprint of any harm left behind.

  321. Just as the waves wash away the imprints in the sand… so too do we wake up every morning to a whole new day to re-imprint.

  322. A beautiful call to embracing our energetic responsibility to live true to the love that we are and in so doing erase any imprint we have left behind that does not match this beauty – no judgement, no condemnation just an eternal offering for us to walk in truth beside each other.

  323. We often do not consider how we do things, not just what we do…it is often about the what and we neglect the how, the quality. We do leave imprints in how we are, more than what we do. Something I consider as I go about life.

  324. I love walking along the beach and feeling the imprints of the footprints ahead of me, you are so right they do tell a story and are easily felt. I agree this then makes us very aware that we too have a responsibility in the way we move, think and do.

  325. Great point here about energy. This is just the beginning and energy is based on what type of energy we are calling in. It is so important and eye opening to be aware of this and see the responsibility we have in our movements.

  326. “…everything is registered by the sands of time. They have no interest in the facade and can only ever register the energetic imprint we leave behind.” Beautifully put Joel. Our efforts to hide behind our masks don’t fool anyone.

  327. Every movement we make, every thought we have, every mood we indulge in has an impact. A huge impact at that, and this is what we haven’t wanted to consider. We’d rather remain a fraction of our full selves than bring the fullness of who we are because we don’t want to consider the vastness of the responsibility we have regardless of whether we choose to stay small or not. And so we miss out on the magnificence that’s on offer for us, a magnificence that is our most natural right when we bring the fullness of us to the all that ripples throughout the universe.

  328. Yes indeed, Ariana, we could change the way of the world in a single day if we chose to take responsibility for leaving loving imprint in our wake.

  329. You are so right, Joel, “energetic responsibility is the new frontier”, because without it we are going round in ever-decreasing circles and blaming others, the world or God for our woes – now where is that getting us?

    1. Maybe it’s getting us exactly where we/most have wanted to be – away from the love of the soul and our right to live and walk its Grace upon this earth…
Aarghhh for the part of us that would resist the knowing that we are always, actually, truly home…

  330. We tend to walk our path and not look back because if we do then we have to see how much irresponsibility we have caused. So to see it from others and call this out means we have to look at ourselves so we all keep ignoring the enormous impact we are having on earth and in the Universe.

  331. Thank you Joel for this beautiful analogy and call to embrace the ‘grace of responsibility’. Not as a heavy burden but with the recognition that every imprint is felt by all and so what imprints will I choose to leave behind today?

  332. We sure do Alison and it is worth remembering this fact as every step can either reflect back to another and support them to be more of the love they naturally are or it can further add to the prison of illusion we live in that keeps us so much less.

  333. We busily walk everywhere without thinking about our footsteps but when you are on the beach and see the different feet sizes, indents, you can feel how the person has walked before you, it’s as if the energy is magnified some how. Thank you Joel for the reminder that we can feel others foot steps and that they can feel ours.

  334. ‘Energetic Responsibility is the new frontier in integrity, ethics and responsibility.’ It’s a giant leap from what we currently think responsibility is and a huge eye opener to how energy works!

  335. Photo-shopping images is a powerful reflection of how we choose to live life, manipulating pictures rather than simply choosing to see things as they are. Who are we fooling but ourselves and each other?

  336. Life can be challenging and very difficult or life can be simple and purposeful all depending on the energy we align to, and we all have free will to choose to express love or to express everything that is not love, but both will have very different outcomes.

  337. “The new age may have reminded people about the fact of energy, but The Way of The Livingness is reminding people that being aware of energy is only the beginning. Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are using.” Yes Joel, it is this difference in energy that has been totally dismissed up until Serge Benhayon introduced to us the indisputable fact that we either choose an energy that is harming or healing, and that there is nothing in between. So ‘sitting on the fence’ so to speak is actaully no longer an option.

  338. When we walk with love and divinity we are like the sea, washing clean our previous unloving imprints.

  339. Making the effort to focus on the quality of our walk supports everyone who crosses our tracks, as the quality of the wake we leave behind us washes over us all the time. How awesome it would be if we could all wash each other with our innocent grace instead of the many and varied emotions that we tend to stomp around the planet in.

  340. Thank you Joel, a brilliant reminder that everything we do affects everyone everywhere, and in fact the entire universe. Taking responsibility for the quality of energy we are in with each step is where humanity needs to head.

  341. There is much to ponder here. When we’ve walked in anger or upset we are assured that at anytime the old can be washed away and replaced. We are responsible and can re-imprint our footsteps with Love knowing each one leaves its quality behind for all others to feel.

    1. True Kehinde. I can also feel that energy still affects everything, even when the footsteps are no longer visible. We have to live with our energetic imprints forever and accept all we have done. There is no need for guilt and judgement. Understanding, love and truth will support us all the way.

      1. Absolutely Leonne. With energetic responsibility we are fully aware of the impact of every action, long after, even those made in personal and quiet moments. Anything we do that harms or abuses our own body adds to the vibration of harm in the world. We are called to be attentive and refine the quality of all our movements, infusing them with love, truth and harmony and nothing else.

    2. I know Kehinde it has to be one of the greatest blessings we have been given to be able to change course and begin to reimprint our past at any moment no matter what has gone before.

      1. And as Leonne says to do so without a shadow of guilt or judgment, but deeply felt sense of responsibility.

  342. We walk in the sand and the tide, over time fades them away. There a number of places where footprints of dinosaurs footprints have been found. Are there things we leave behind and hope they will just wash away?

  343. Joel I love the question you’ve put to us “Walk along the beach one day and notice the footprints of those that walked before.” to not only enjoy the space of the walk but to observe and feel all those that have walked before, the obvious ones being those that have left imprints in the sand. We can get a feel for them, the quality and what they left behind and in that ask ourselves what quality are we leaving for those that walk behind and next to us.

  344. So much wisdom in one beach experience. Makes me wonder (so many of us being on beaches) how many of us truly allow for this wisdom, that we are presented with in every moment.

  345. Powerfully said Joel Levin. And thank-you for these words in particular: “Energetic Responsibility is the new frontier in integrity, ethics and responsibility.”
In truth, it was always the ‘frontier’ and the reality beyond every single thing, wasn’t it… Yet there is great power in consciously bringing awareness to the true reality in which we are engaging, every single moment of every single day (on sand or other…).

    1. These words also stood out for me and as you say, Victoria, the responsibility and it being the frontier has always been there. However, through the work of Serge Benhayon and all the students of Universal Medicine the conscious awareness of it is going global, the result of which will change the world.

      1. That’s it exactly jstewart51 – and so the ‘frontier’ Joel has so astutely observed today, is a result of increasing numbers of people choosing to be aware of the truth that founds our very existence, and indeed our purpose in being here.

    2. It’s always been the frontier – I love this Victoria. It is so very true and shows the lie of the important things been seen as something new

      1. True – and yet I totally appreciate your words here, as ever, Joel. For as jstewart51 has noted above, there IS actually a ‘frontier’ – brought forward by the increasing numbers of people who are choosing to be aware of the ancient truths that have always been with us…
The more that humanity re-awakens to what you’ve shared here, the harder it is to bury such truths oh-so-conveniently under the carpet.

  346. We can learn so much from footprints in the sand. I know my feet leave a different type of imprint showing fallen arches and years of playing small. When I walk there has not been purpose which is shown in what I leave behind. With the support of Curtis and Michael Benhayon I have been adjusting the way I walk and my footprints are literally changing which is miracle in itself.

  347. Thank you for reminding me again in this article about the consequences of how I choose to move in the day and to observe the ripple effect of a loving movement or of a movement in disregard or anger.

  348. I love the footprints in the sand analogy. Today I’m going to bring greater attention to how I’m walking and moving, and the energy that I’m choosing.

  349. A blog to make us deeply consider the trail we leave behind us. Yesterday while at work we had some packing to do. It was interesting to observe how each person tackled the task. The packing got done, but the energy in which it was completed differed for each person. Some were stressed, some in a hurry, some lifting things that were really way too heavy, some calm and taking their time. I wonder what imprint we left?

  350. No matter how we mask it or try to wash it away there is no getting away from energetic truth and that truth will eventually teach us to walk the sands in the most gentle loving way causing no harm to man, nor beast or the planet. And then and only then we won’t need to walk any further.

    1. Becoming a Shaolin Priest and walking on rice paper without disturbing it, fits your description Kevin, of what we should aspire ourselves too.

  351. Yes, it is interesting to observe how the footprints are set, which part of the foot is deepest, who wears shoes and who is barefoot – it serves as a useful reminder of the imprints we leave wherever we go

  352. Joel I always love your metaphors. I too love the simplicity and the playfulness what comes with them including the absolut truth and wisdom. That made me feel joyfuller each time I read them. You have to collect them all and put them together in a book and I will be the first to buy them – promised. This book would be a wonderful birthday present for a lot of friends of mine.

  353. Imprints on sand are obvious to see, but then there is a deeper imprint we can only feel, that is in the way we move, how we enter a room, our tone of voice, our intent and our willingness to observe and care for another and their state of being. Really the footprint is miniscule in comparison to the larger prints we deliver every moment.

  354. This great blog is reminding me of that beautiful Light-art-installation by Bruce Ramus in Melbourne which has the footsteps of the Master walking the street. Simply awesome!

  355. The imprint that we leave when we walk is so very noticeable on the beach – so many beaches I have stepped onto in the last couple of years are just full of the conflicting energy left there by beach-goers. It is very beautiful that the waves do wash up and wash the foot-steps away. The difference when walking onto the deserted beach near my place is huge. There are many places on this beach where the sand is almost untouched by man and it is a completely different experience. It is always really good to keep remembering the quality of every step we take.

  356. Serge Benhayon makes it all make sense. For years I have wrestled with the why’s and what if’s of life – never quite sure why the pieces just don’t seem to add up. Now I can see what a beautiful jigsaw it all is and how integral each and everyone of us is to the whole.

  357. On energetic responsibility as you write Joel – “It is a willingness to be held accountable for not only how things look, but also how they feel” – how true because most of us get taken in by the looks as the determinant of things/success when in fact they couldn’t be further from the truth underneath. We may ‘look good’ on the surface though inside things are very different when you feel the energy and its quality which is the ‘giveaway’ of the true state of play.

  358. “Everything is registered by the sands of time, . .” . . . Beautiful Joel as this does bring home the responsibility we all have to tread the sands with the love that we are rather than with a with a counter to that love. It is like the difference between harming and healing.

  359. Today on my walk along your beach Joel I get a real sense of how we can stroll along in bumps and in dunes, and find rubbish and junk washed up that someone has dumped – only to slowly realise that it wasn’t a stranger who did this – it was actually us. For whether we like it or not the truth is our actions always come back to us. This gives a whole new complexion to our every day’s events.

  360. I use to love to walk the beach in the morning when I lived closer to it and I had also registered all can be felt in our footprints, the imprints we leave on the sand. We are constantly communicating on every level even though no words may be spoken, and we are all feeling and registering this communication on some level. A call for us to be responsible yes.

  361. How graceful that without judgement everything is registered by ‘the sands of time’, and this keeps us very honest. There is much wisdom available for us to see when we live with awareness and understand the energetic responsibility that we have in our every movement; that the quality of our imprints on the earth both affects us and the earth. Joel your delivery of truth is inspiring.

  362. There is such a timelessness to your writing Joel, literally I feel this being spoken across the sands of time, and to know that every imprint counts, and that that is only the beginning as you say, then it’s for us to consider what energy runs us – is it love or not?

    1. The timelessness rests in the fact that this has ever been the truth behind all things. For those of us becoming consciously aware of the truth and the outplay of this in our lives, it may seem new, but never has it not been truly known within us all. It’s important that we claim this deeper knowing, for we’ve so conveniently brushed it aside for aeons, and yet do so in so many ways, don’t we…

  363. A brilliant piece on the energetic responsibility found in our every movement made and how that footprint then holds a quality to which can truly define the divine essence of all and how we then proceed into our next movement thereafter. A beautiful reflection of the essence of life and how our energetic imprints can shape our next movement made and allows us to see that we can redefine our movements depending on our next choice thereafter.

  364. A beautiful sharing Joel exposing the importance of energetic responsibility in everything we do, many prefer to bury their head in the stand with this truth but if we embrace and live this truth it brings a quality and a way of living that supports the whole.

  365. There’s something magical in the knowing that what we do will be imparted forever after.

  366. It is a powerful call on each of us the moment we realise the ‘truth’ that everything about our life – all thoughts, physical movements, every breath, the quality we hold in our body has an affect on everyone and everything around us. This makes me aware that to hold ourselves in love, be transparent and speak truth in every moment is all that is needed as this reflection will support humanity. Energetic integrity and energetic responsibility is what is call for. It is not about going out and doing by imposing what we ‘believe’ on the world but we are here to hold a clear, loving and truthful template for others to model their life on. – to show that there is another way. Whilst the waves continue to come in and wash away the footprints, the truth is that what was in the quality of that step still remains.

  367. Wow Joel, brilliant, brilliant blog. What a beautiful reminder for us to take responsibility for the energy we choose and to be aware of how this affects everyone and everything.

  368. Footprints in the sand and the detail and depth of reading with our imprints being either harmful or healing, what an amazing reflection you offer here for us all to take full responsibility for.

  369. How amazing and life changing it is to have an awareness of energy and how it truly plays out in daily life as presented by Serge Benhayon, but if we don’t marry this with energetic responsibility we waste the incredible opportunity offered and only delay our return to who we truly are.

  370. The mark of footprints on the sand is such a great analogy. It is irrelevant how great we make our appearance or how well we try to camouflage what we are expressing, our movements carry the quality of energy we choose and we leave footprints that greet others in the quality we have walked. The fact that most of us have chosen to not be aware of the energy that irrefutably runs through everything does not mean we are exempt from the responsibility we hold for the quality we live in our wake.

  371. ‘Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are using.’ …this statement says it all and calls us to take full responsibility. Another inspiring and illuminating blog Joel. Thank you.

  372. What a great way to visualise our energetic footprints. Seeing and understanding this example is a gateway to helping us learn about how we carry ourselves through life. Great writing as ever, Joel.

  373. The footprints in the sand is a great analogy of what is occurring all the time and shows us how we are treading in life. To understand that it is not about how things look but how they feel is an essential tool in life. We are constantly asked to ignore what we feel and go along with what is presented on the surface layer. Yet this ignore-ance is one of the ways that we allow ourselves to be affected by the heavy footprints that have been before us. There is no judgment in this, just an observation and care in how and with what quality of energy we tread.

  374. It’s great to have points to reflect on as we live. This article is one of those points that brings us to stop and think or ponder on where we have stepped and how we step next. We give little weight to the power of what a single step does, a single thought or a single word are the same. We live in a place that only gives attention to a part of something that is much much bigger. Opening up at every point to see what lies beneath the belief that life is only about what we can see. At any point it’s always a great time to reflect.

  375. Love your writings Joel and your observations of life – the sands of time is a wonderful analogy of the imprints we all leave behind.

  376. “ Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are using.” Our willingness to simply to choose to be aware is all that this required to start our re-connection to the lightness and delightfulness of energetic responsibility.

  377. Indeed Joel, we should not be affraid to walk that which we choose, and not hold back on sharing the love with the world thats inside us. And not to be affraid for when we have chosen to escape that love – to just see it for what it is, but straightaway coming back to that love inside us again. Expressing ourselves in full.

  378. “because what is registered is not done to judge or punish, but to allow us the grace of responsibility”. This is what I love about energetic responsibility, it is like the best friend you can ever have, for ever holding you to account and feeling the call of responsibility but not in a way that judges or punishes.

    1. Energetic responsibility is certainly a deeply loving way to bring us back to love.

  379. Absolutely – energetic quality is everything and our every movement at rest and in motion forever reflects this truth.

  380. What I get from this is that our movements are very honest in the sense that we can’t cover up where our bodies are truly at. I love what you share about peoples footprints in the sand, it sure does give a good indication of their walk and therefore how they are to facilitate that walk.

  381. I feel the releasing of chains of judgement from what you have written Joel. That all is recorded brings accountability but also an understanding that we are not and will never be perfect.

  382. What a true sage you are, Joel. The simple truth that “everything is registered by the sands of time” leaves no wriggle room for irresponsibility – end of story.

  383. In your blog you offer a reflection of by-gones, but also the opportunity of new beginnings, not in wiping the slate clean and walking away with no responsibility, but the true new beginning of claiming our life with responsibility and ensuring that all we leave behind is only ever there to support another who walks behind us.

  384. Thank you Joel for a simple and striking blog and reminder of energetic responsibility! I love how you have used the analogy of the sands of time registering everything and how we all play a role in our choices and awareness of energy!

  385. When I can walk with such integrity it brings me closer to myself and my connection to the earth and all of humanity. That is how I want to live.

    1. Interesting that you use the word ‘fatherly’. So spot on and so exactly what we all need to be gently and firmly told and then inspired into putting into action by watching another – exactly the model of great fathering, exactly how Serge Benhayon operates; leading by example, but never leaving your side.

  386. ‘Along life’s path, we all walk in a certain way and we all leave our imprint on places and people.’ Learning about energetic responsibility has been the greatest lesson for me to lay foundations for my future. The healing modalities of Universal Medicine are like the waves washing away and clearing old configurations when we surrender. A beautiful metaphor thank you Joel.

  387. A beautiful image of the beach and the foot prints so perfectly capturing life, the way we live and how we impact we have on others.

  388. Beautiful, Joel. It is not about trying to not leave any footprint as we always have and will. And there are those whose footprints that have become the template of inspiration for us.

  389. Your words are like liquid gold Joel and so enjoyable to read. I love your emphasis on the fact that karma is not a punishment, but a call to be more responsible for how we walk through life. The law of cause and effect (karma) is such a beautiful and just heavenly law.

  390. There really is so much we have not been made aware of from such a young age. I love the next layer of awareness you bring us – we accept that everything is energy and because of energy so it is now time to be responsible for the type of energy we are doing things in. What quality of footprints are we leaving behind?

  391. It feels so grand to connect to myself and feel the same steadiness in nature. Living this, I know is the ultimate in responsibility. Appreciating that I am re learning how to do this and implementing consistency with the responsiblity this presents is a constant offering. So yes sometimes my footsteps will take more washes than others. In honoring this process, I can feel how there is simply nothing but Love from God. No punishment, simply the grace of God, constant opportunities to ‘go over and re do’.

  392. This felt like a beautiful serenade Joel and the waves coming to wash away the imprints to me felt like the opportunity new beginnings bring. The thing about footprints in the sand is that they will eventually always wash away but the quality that they have been left in will always be with us as we move .It is our responsibility to live in a way that continually deepens this quality.

  393. Thank you Joel. You make energetic responsibility not only simple to understand, but something interesting to explore, with the journey very much starting with ourselves in a deeply personal relationship with how we each are through life.

    1. This is the the thing – when embraced, energetic responsibility can be a fascinating and purposeful exploration and practice. Far from the dogmatic drudgery that responsibility is so often portrayed as. I still shirk it at times – but when I embrace it in full, it fills my body with purpose and my movements with joy.

  394. Thank you Joel for inviting us back to the enormousness that life is. There is so much more to us than we have been aware of and lived and in the end it comes back to the choice of what quality we choose and live in and with – what type of energy, as you say.

    1. How beautifully said Esther – Joel’s blog is an invitation back to the grandness that life is when lived from the connection with Soul rather than the connection with the human spirit. Quality is all that matters in the end and so the imprints we have left in association with Soul are the true value of what we leave behind, and take with us in the next instance.

  395. An inspiring blog Joel and a strong reminder for the quality in which we are choosing to move in in every way in our daily lives, and how this impacts the all – our every footstep, opening closing doors, how we drive – the list is endless where we can bring more of our grace and live with Energetic Responsibility.
“The new age may have reminded people about the fact of energy, but The Way of The Livingness is reminding people that being aware of energy is only the beginning. Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are using”.

    1. This is true – how often we give emphasis to what is seen or what we would like to see, our perception of ourselves, life and others when all the while, there is an energetic outplay regardless – the true intent and movement that is forever taking place.

  396. Profound and beautifully captured Joel… ‘The new age may have reminded people about the fact of energy, but The Way of The Livingness is reminding people that being aware of energy is only the beginning. Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are using.’ A statement that will be better understood in the decades to come than it will be today… nonetheless absolutely true.

  397. Beautifully expressed. As always Joel your writings are inspiring and illuminating. You present here clearly and simply the significance of energetic integrity and the distinct difference between the new age spiritualism and The Way of The Livingness.

  398. An essential reminder Joel that our imprints are not so easily washed away as we would like to think, but that we have an immense responsibility to ensure that the quality of energy we are tapping into every moment of the day supports us to live with true regard for all, so that we leave behind us an imprint that engenders true evolution and integrity for all who cross our path.

  399. The greatest illusion we live with is using things like food and emotions to not be able to feel our energetic imprints or others. We feel them always and are just putting barriers to the registration of what is felt. The unseen nature of energy allows for us to pretend and feign ignorance but as you share the sands of time mark everything so that we can be responsible.

  400. Another great blog. Thank you Joel. As soon as we know how to discriminate between or discern the difference in energies, whether they be fire or prana, our responsibility truly begins. There is no longer any excuse. And actually this happens long before we understand the meaning of these definitions because we know and/or can feel what is truly true or not.

  401. And like the waves come and clear the footprints left in the sand ready for the dawn of a new day, we too are graced constantly with many moments to clear our own footprints we have left behind. Only problem is that we keep stubbornly working the same ones back again and again reinforcing the old and not allowing the new.

  402. Deeply beautiful Joel reminding us of the true responsibility we all hold on earth with the choice of energy we choose with integrity and love . The way of the livingness marks the way for us all and is our greatest gift on earth .

  403. Love this, simple and clear, we leave a trail, we can feel it when we are in relationships, we meet a friend, how we are together builds from the last time we meet and so forth…even how we walk, the emotions we do or don’t choose impact and create a ripple of energy. Indeed, what energy do we choose?

  404. Short, simple, beautiful yet makes us aware of so much. I love how you have written. The naturalness, realness and beauty of speaking about footprints left on the beach highlights just how superficial everything else is (camera filters, rushing though life etc) and helps us to come back to us and see things in a completely different and very true light. As you so rightly say at the end of the day ‘only ever register the energetic imprint we leave behind’ it is how we have lived energetically that counts.

  405. Fantastic reminder to us all that each movement each step has a ripple effect, everything we do effects everyone -though as a world wide society we are far from living this truth. It takes us all one by one to reclaim and re-imprint that what we have walked before so that one day each step is taken only in Love.

  406. Interestingly Joel I had been wondering when I was going to read another blog from you and here you are blessing us all with your clarity to read life and then write in a way that is so simple and yet so profound. You are a master story teller and if you ever decide to publish your work, I would definitely be at the front of the queue to buy it.

  407. “We are free to walk how we choose and to have enough integrity to be honest about the wake and trail that we leave behind.”
Before i met Serge Benhayon i walked a path where i rarely bothered to look back over the tracks i left behind and would frequently blame my circumstance or others for my disharmonious wake. Being honest about the quality of the wake has not always been easy or comfortable, but by fostering a more loving way to be with myself I have reestablished my ability to observe without reactions and begun to appreciate the endless opportunities there are to take responsibility for how i am walking.

  408. Interesting to consider something. What if the waves stopped for a week, stopped washing away the footprints, stopped clearing away our imprints….then we would get to really see the mess that we were making of the beach.

    1. A Huge thing to contemplate… a week without pharmaceuticals, a week without drugs or alcohol and week without police or paramedics, surgeons, physiatrists, social workers… a week to be left to the full consequence of our choices…frightening!

      1. That is indeed a terrifying expansion of the concept. It would be carnage and chaos and devastation. And still we call ourselves the most intelligent and evolved species on the planet. Mmmm?

  409. Powerful reminder Joel of how we all leave an imprint on people and places, and the question has to be asked, what imprint are we leaving. Is it loving and healing or heavy and harming?

  410. I love the metaphor Joel, it is so true – some imprints are so deep that it takes a few washes to clear the traces. As in life, some of the hurts we carry are so deep that we need time and persistence to completely erase them from our bodies.

  411. As you say so clearly Joel, “We are free to walk how we choose” but what we need to be very aware of is that the energy we leave behind is our responsibility. It is not a responsibility to be scared of but one that offers us the opportunity to recognise how we are walking, in what energy are we walking and how this will impact on those who follow, as well as on ourselves; so how wonderfully responsible it would be to leave behind footprints of love and joy.

  412. Awesome Joel, thank you – footprints in the sand is the perfect reflection of the energetic imprints we leave behind in our wake. As I ponder this I am moved to appreciate the waves of Grace that support us all to re-imprint our path. Like the sea washing over the sand, as we surrender ever more deeply to the Grace of Love, we are returned back to the harmoniousness of our true being, leaving a very different reflection behind.

  413. Every footprint tells a story Joel. We might not want to see it and may want the story to change but it won’t until we change the energy how we impact the world with footprint, thought, word or deed.

  414. Well said Joel, I love the analogy. I also tind that the quality we walk with leaves an imprint for the next person so if we move with love they have a greater propensity to be love, same goes for anger etc.. do we leave a clear path or an alreay tarnished one for our fellow brothers to walk on.

  415. “what is registered is not done to judge or punish, but to allow us the grace of responsibility” this statement allows the space for us to understand responsibility in a different light, one of love and integrity.

  416. This is a short piece of writing, Joel but wow… its mighty powerful in its delivery! Energetic responsibility is not something I consciously understood before attending Universal Medicine workshops, although I did have an awareness on some level and felt what was going on. Your analogy of the “sands of time” really support and bring understanding that EVERY movement is clocked, registered and impacts another.

  417. Yet another great post Joel – thankyou. “Did we walk with joy, sadness, anger, reverence, appreciation, or bitterness? It all registers and can been seen and felt, and we can even be affected by the imprints of others.”
This brings a big level of responsibility, as all our movements have an impact. Do we want them to be healing – or are they harming? Our choice.

  418. What a great metaphor the footprints in the sand are for our path trough life, heavy or light, masked and disguised or upright and forthright, with nothing to hide – whatever the case may be.

  419. An excellent analogy Joel, the prints that are left not only register the shape of our feet but the energy they were placed in, we are always accountable for if we walked them in joy, anger, sadness, drive, anxiousness or love – why does this matter, because the prints we leave are felt by others.

  420. Footprints in the sand, a beautiful analogy of energetic responsibility. Thank you Joel.

  421. The path we have left is a reminder of where we have been good or bad. Both are kept alive by others and ourselves if we have and investment into hanging on to them.

  422. ” The Way of The Livingness is reminding people that being aware of energy is only the beginning. Our Energetic Responsibility is to be aware of the type of energy we are using.” Joel this is the single most important awareness to have, with this held true and at the core of how we conduct life we start to evolve.

  423. There are some who walk the sands of time who leave an imprint of love that inspires us to walk this same living way.

  424. We like to think that what we do is in isolation, not affecting or felt by others, but every thought, every movement, affects the whole. Every time we allow abuse, in whatever way, we’re contributing to the same pool of energy that allows abuse to happens on a much larger scale in the world.

    1. When we know and understand this, we find we have a great responsibility in life.

  425. One of these days we will all be walking the earth aware of the footprints we are leaving in the sands but until that day comes it is up to those that are already aware to lead the way with love.

  426. So true Joel, we normally are not aware of our footprints on the earth and the impact it has, thank you for this reminder. The imprint even on the paved roads, in our houses etc. where we do not see them like on the beach are there in the same way on an energetic level and leave an energy behind which can influence other people when they cross your walked track. That is the responsibility we have. Do we want to poison other people with our walk in anger, grief or sadness or do we choose to walk with tenderness, integrity and delicacy instead.

  427. Going beneath the surface, a lovely blog Joel, a handy users guide of how to live un-influenced by false pictures of good and nice and right and wrong. There are lots of fancy words spoken by many, and they are footprints of a kind, but things are not always as they seem and that is where we can redevelop our senses that are capable of looking beyond the surface to what is going on underneath. There is no better example than in politics, where what is spoken is rarely true, but we can look closer to home and see the same picture unfold, when am I not being truthful I could well ask.

  428. ‘Along life’s path, we all walk in a certain way and we all leave our imprint on places and people. This is our ultimate and inescapable responsibility. There is nothing that we touch, say or do that is not registered….’ Beautifully said Joel. And it works both ways – our bodies register everything, we are also the recipient of everything we live. How important it is to fully appreciate what this means, and how our movements matter, completely.

  429. Such a beautiful reminder Joel of the responsibility of our every imprint and footstep. It is interesting that you use the imagery the beach and the sand, which refers to the ‘sands of time'(as you have said) but the very fact of ‘time’ being the measurement of how many cycles we are doing around the sun before we ‘get it’, before we learn to walk in grace and truth. We must learn to walk light-ly on this earth.

  430. We will always meet our own imprints again and we always have the opportunity to re-imprint and choose a different energy or walk those same foot prints again.

    1. Yes and joy comes from the re-imprinting as we can see and feel the immense difference this has on our lives and the ripple effect it has on others.

  431. Fabulous read as usual Joel, love how you observe life and write for its education. “There is nothing that we touch, say or do that is not registered by the sands of time, and sometimes what we leave behind takes a number of washes before the path is clear once again” – ‘the sands of time’ indeed, so utterly and inspiringly true.

  432. Absolutely awesome blog yet again Joel, highlighting how powerful we truly are and how everything is everything and we are a huge part of that everything that we can so easily ignore. You speak here though Joel from a deep love and appreciation for yourself first which impulses all
If your choices thereafter. A true pioneer and inspiration for humanity.

  433. Life’s oceans have a way of washing up exactly what we need to see, so that it lands as if by magic at our feet in the sand. Then it’s just up to us to embrace what we have been shown or throw it back to the water. One way or the other these things may seem to disappear, but one day they will wash up again as we walk along. It’s just a matter if the passage of tides. So yes Joel, why not embrace Love and what our path offers us today?

  434. Just like our impact on the environment overall, our footprints – the energetic imprints we leave behind us – reveal much about us, as you so beautifully say Joel. Taking the time to examine our own ‘environmental footprints’ will lead us to take clearer steps forward.

  435. Well said and strongly dispositioned Joel. Ever so important – what type of energy we are choosing will determine what footprints we will leave behind.

  436. Wow another gem from the master of metaphors to show so beautifully the responsibility we have to walk in consideration of the energy we are imprinting the earth with as we move through life… a responsibility we can deny and avoid but never escape. The sands of time is such a stunning reminder to make us stop and ponder over the quality of our every step that will either heal the earth of need washing away.
